Ok, here's a special event for ya. I went to A Rennisai Renisaunce Reni Renn Medieval "Faire" today with Dan and cass, and Dan's brother. It was my first time at a place like that, and I must say, it was awesome. People walked around in full leather armor, with real swords, sharpened and everything. It was awesome. Some of the costumes were simply amazing, perfectly realistic looking. One scottish guy was there with a sword that was, at the very least, 7 feet long. Prolly longer.
What's else, the shops sold awesome, awesome stuff. Cheap. Like, The biggest sword I found on-line was a the Two Handed sword made by Cold Steel. It costs $400 and is about 5 1/2 feet long. There, they were selling a FULL SIZE scottish claymore (About as tall as I am)... Longer, broader, and heavyer then the Cold Steel one... for $60 in the bargain bin. No joke. All Katana's were also $60, and they had some ones even I liked (and I really prefer the european style swords). You could buy full suits armor, Leather, chainmail, or even plate (but no plate breatplates, unfortunatly), helms, full size and sharpened battleaxes, spears (they had an AWESOME glaive/naginata $40), war hammers, longbows... it was amazing. They had an on-grounds Forge and Fletcher... you could watch them make swords and Bows, right there in front of you. Mage Staff's, cloaks, crystal balls... anything.
The shows were... ok. The joust was horrable. It looked really fake and the fights were really bad. The rest of the shows were reasonable though. There was a hypnotist show, and Cass got hypnotized. There was this comedy guy, we had no idea what the show was, we just walked up to sit down for a sec, and ended up watching. He was really funny. But for me, the main atraction were the cool outfits, and the awesome stores. We unfortunatly didn't get to see any of the plays... I'd lie to see some of the comedy ones, they seemed funny. judging by the crowds. I couldn't sit still though, there was so much to look at.
The only thing I didn't like is that there were people who cam up and bothered you. I mean, yeah, it really pushed the whole feeling of medieval...ness, and some people really like that, but I thought it was just annoying. Other then that it was a lot of fun. Oh, and that I didn't have money on me, so I couldn't buy a sword.
I am going to though. I am... you can trust me on that one...

yeah, that would be cool, a whole group thing. we should all go when we all have time/money, lol but i thought it was awesome too. they had, like will said, everything. i was debating on what to buy, but i ended up buying a 10 foot long whip. havent got it to really crack though (this ones a lot longer then the one i learned with...), but i have swung from a tree with it! lol, indiana jones isnt all fiction and the shows were decent, the joust did look pretty fake, but hey, falling from a horse could really hurt someone, they were just being careful. the hypnotist show was pretty cool. i really didnt beleive in hypnotizing, so i went up as a volunteer. i dont rememeber a damn thing so you'll have to ask dan or will about what i did, lol. then there was also that 'danger magic show' and then human chess and a couple other nifty shows. i had a great time. ;D

Oh common... Its not like its anymore dangorous then playing with guns... or something... BTW, this is what it looks like: That's the exact one. William Wallace style claymore. If it's resting on the ground, it goes up to about my armpits.
