Hey guys, I'm just gonna test this out here. Here's the logo for our game Salvage that we're doing as our senior project. I made the logo, it started out fairly clean, but our lead designer kept grunging it up more and more until u see it as it is now. What ya'll think?

I didn't get to see it clean, but it's probably best grunged up anyway. When I think of salvaging, I don't think of good hygiene, after all.
Also, it remidns me of the metal plates the Mythbusters use after they bust a myth, prove it true, or find it to be plausible. ;D
Oh, also, I'm wondering if the screws would look better if they were a little grungier...the white just...I dunno. It's so bright and doesn't seem to fit the rest of the metal well.

Well I was kinda going for a mythbusters plate kinda feel so that's successful. And our lead designer had the same mentality when it came to salvaging stuff. The main storyline centers around a junkyard after all, so that's working too.
The screws? Well we can take it into consideration.

Screws, I think, are awesome. They should stand out.
Most of the robots I draw have screws, or screw-like things, that are visible. Its like a symbol of machinery sorta.
I love it. Gears are awesome.

Screws are cool, yes. I like putting them on robots too. But the white of the screws is even brighter than the white of the text and I really don't think anything should stand out more than the text since the text is the most important part of the whole piece seeing as how it's the title of the game. Maybe that's just me though, I dunno.

What about the white background? Assuming its not going to be transparent for the final product, that purity and brightness doesn't really go along with the junkyard theme. Maybe put a dirt-ish texture there?
Pretty cool looking though. Are you going to be able to "release" the game (ie, can I download it at some point and play?) As far as that goes, are you actually making a real live game or like a concept of a game?

Oh, that white background is irrelevant. It's just the way it came out when i turned it into a jpg. I just made the teaser poster for our project yesterday, check it out. The presentation date is on it. I'll tell ya'll right now u're all invited. I'll be working on the advertising aspect for my team and will be coming up with more posters and stuff. We basically get one year to work on the game and we're gunning for a functional, prettied up demo of the very first chapter. I'll be honest, its gonna be tough as nails. This is our first real foray into making a game and we're making it from scratch, from the game engine and up (it'll be programmed in java, if u were curious). I'm just preparing myself for more weeks without sleep and many, many more headaches to come = P .

well at least I'm glad my ad campaign is already working ^_^
hey, maybe you guys can help us out, since I'm gonna be too focused on maps and levels for the next few weeks, maybe you guys can think of any weapons or items that could be cool in the game. You can use your imagination, but don't go too crazy, we're not Blizzard.
