Hey guys, check it out! So one of my professors hooked me up with this writer who is converting his story, "Black Dawn," to graphic novel form. He commissioned me to create a flyer for him that he'll bring to a comic show this Friday in Philly. I created it, he paid me $150, and now he has it as the front page to the website for the story (which is still in the works as well). Check out the image: blackdawnweb.com/And so he wants me to continue working on the full book over the next year. Its pretty cool, but there's also the fact that next year is going to be my last year in college and I'll be working on my video game capstone project, so needless to say, my time is gonna be really tight. The synopsis of his story is also a little different from what I usually work with. If it were fantasy it would have been a whole lot easier - just draw a guy in armor fighting some monster. But his story takes place in the near post-apocalyptic future. Like say, if the world goes to hell tomorrow, the story starts one month after all that happened. So there's still people in shock of the destruction (I still don't know why the world in his story gets destroyed. I don't have his full script yet), cities have turned to ruins and the landscape is slowly turning to desert. Also, it focuses on the destructive power of the sun - if anyone gets caught in the sun, they die a horrible burning death. I guess that's why its called Black Dawn. The story follows the path of a brother and a sister as they try to survive this new world. So thats that. I always thought that if I was to work on a graphic novel the subject matter would at least be somewhat different, but hey, a professional should be able to take whats in front of him and make it work.

Cool, that's wonderful. The latest story I've been writing is post-apocalyptic as well, although in the one I am writing its farther in the future, where people don't even remember what destroyed the world. So I really love the idea of a destroyed-world story, and I can't wait to read it

that really is awesome, good for you Francis. on another side of the artistic spectrum, my voice lessons are going really well. my teacher told me to start recording myself when i practice, so i can hear it. it sounds a hell of alot different hearing yourself played back, from what you hear normally. but anyway, i wanted to see if i can upload my recordings, but im not sure if it'll work or not. worth a shot though. Amarilli- Caccini One of my arias. i picked a relatively low song because the high notes make my computer go wonky. i had to break it up into two sessions, but its the same song. us.share.geocities.com/pipsqueak08886/amarilli1.wavus.share.geocities.com/pipsqueak08886/amarilli2.wavWreck of the Day - Anna Nalick okay, so not from my voice lessons, but its still fun. its just me messing around with my guitar playing one of my favorite songs. us.share.geocities.com/pipsqueak08886/wreckoftheday.wav{edit}- yeah, so my geocities account has an hourly bandwidth of 4.2 megs, so if it doest work, sorry.

a little something before I leave for Korea: I call it the East Meets West Omnibus! My gift to commemorate the East Meets West project's adventures while here in America at the beginning of the semester. And just in time for the trip. Clockin this one at at least 25 hrs, i lost track. I know I coulda tweeked it more and junk, but time has just run out. This here is a group portrait of everyone involved in the American and Korean teams. What I wanted to accomplish here was bring in all the events that were memorable, fun or just plain odd from the times that the Koreans were here in the US (though of course you would have had to have been there to get them all). Which brings me back to the reason why I'm putting a word or two to explain some things in the picture. So there's me in the front doin some juggling as usual, which is in reference to the circus arts we did. Tristan to the left over there has been turned blue like one of the Blue Man Group. Soo-jung and Lori over there once wore the same colored outfits by coincidence. Below them, Brian's soul is being sucked away by all the work we had to do. Over to the bottom right, I gave Mel a lightsaber because this whole overstuffed composition thing reminded me of how Star Wars posters are made. Besides, anything that cuts through people like butter I'm sure he'll appreciate. Above him is the very talented so-hee, another great artist, so I gave her her popular sketch book. Above her, ki-hoon and jae-pil gettin drunk like crazy while celebrating their birthdays which occured while they were here. I swear, those Koreans drink as much as the Irish.. To the left of them, my man seong-hwan is always at the ready with his camera. Now if you've been wondering why there's an 18 wheeler truck in the picture, this is because one day while we were riding to NY city, hyung-joong told me that it was a "man's dream" to drive one of them when we saw one down the highway. So therefore, I've placed hyung-joong on top of his dream ride, hehe. Continueing with this zig-zag tour pattern, above him we see su-jin dressed up as the Statue of Liberty. Holding up that WWE championship belt while wearing a motion capture suite is my friend jae-young. He wuz a crazy fellar. Next to him we have our tough man, man-su. Whoever thought it was a great idea to give him a nerf gun at a drinking party wasn't thinking straight (you know who you are!). Just kidding, he's a good guy. Looking like he's found a long lost treasure is jong-wu. Ok, I have to tell you this, while they were here, for some reason the Koreans were obsessed with the need to buy shoes... And apparently they thing $100 pairs of shoes is cheap! ( ) Moving along... crowning the picture is the crazy man, Justin, headbangin away on a Guitar Hero guitar, lol. Good stuff. Ah, memories.... Now to lie and wait to see what adventures we shall have in Korea!! Ooh, can't wait! C'ya all next time!

Thats a pretty neat pic there Francis, I wish I could create stuff like that. Unfortunately, my somewhat limited creative energies have been siphoned into athletics for more than a year now. If I'm not training I'm recovering Hey Cass, your music doesn't work! I never got to hear it!

some color correction in photoshop, added the frames and titles, stamped the ol' copyright in my name. Got some more Japanese green for your visual pleasure. Found only one good lotus blossom intact in the entire lily field. If only i caught the place when all of the lotus' where in bloom, now that would have been something.

i think you should give a different title to 'lotus garden two' seeing such an unoriginal name under such a nice photo kinda takes away from it.
but great photos, im envious.
