Its actually a really really big digital painting. I could zoom in real close when i was working. Its for the background of an educational game me and bunch of guys are working on. And yeah, I made the horizon curved a bit. At first i was going for a fisheye lense look, but it didn't really happen. Still looks good though. Is very peaceful. some zoomed in screenshots: like i said, u can get in real close. This is the island with the huts but at full size. the left side of the picture at 50% full size here's how it looked about two hours in:

ah, a piece to commemorate the holiday weekend. I'm still working on a larger Mechwarrior painting, but until then, here's a quick rendition of a Vulture, or Mad Dog for u Inner Sphere naming folk.

I've always preferred the Battletech/Mechwarrior2 version of the Mad Dog, with its exposed laser pods on the arms. But its one of the best looking mechs either way, if you ask me. Plus, in battle, it was one of the best long-range support mechs.
Although! Just so you know. Mad Dog is it's clan name (It was invented by Clan Wolf), Vulture is its inner sphere name (It was a long range support mech, hovering just out of distance, harpying and picking off weakened mechs).

Yeah, the clans name them after the clan that invented the first prototype (Example, "Timber Wolf" was made my Clan Wolf) and the Inner sphere name them after what it looks like. They named the "Timber Wolf" the "Mad Cat", because it looks and fights like an inner sphere "Catapult" on steroids. There are of course exceptions. So now you know, AND KNOWING IS HALF THE BATTLE!

The third and fifth Joe's from the left look like football players. The sixth looks like a potential Resident Evil character, and the seventh looks like a Russian soldier because of the pack he's wearing.

Here is an interesting piece of Mechwarrior information... Way back in the day, when Battletech was still pretty popular, FASA decided to re-release it in Japan, where they thought it would be received by a wider audience (You know how the Japanese love their fighting mecha). Now, I don't know if you've seen any of the original battletech art, but, a lot of it was pretty poor... so the Japanese publishers hired the Mechanical Designers from Macross/Robotech to re-design all of the first-run battlemechs. www.yellowlightman.com/macross/omake/jpbt/Many look way cooler if you ask me. Its too bad they only re-drew the first-run mechs, I would've loved to see their re-designs of mechs like the Timberwolf.

I dunno, for the larger mechs, I dont really like their armor to be that "bubbly". But the smaller humanoid mechs definitely look a lot better, like the Commando. ---- My Halloween painting came out to be over 130Megs. Its my largest painting so far. And the thing is, when i'm working i'm also making backup files and copies of the painting, so therefore the entire working project eats up to a half to a full Gig of space. And I make a lot of paintings.... Hard drive space... I hunger for it like a zombie hungers for braaaiinsss... Spaaaaacccce....
