I like the Solid Snake kitty and the dunecat because he looks so silly in the sleeve (or whatever). I showed this to Will once. It amuses me muchly. Behold the Zombie Infection Simulation! It's scary because it'd be true if zombies were actually real. kevan.org/proce55ing/zombies/

an interesting simulation. I wish there was a way for it to take into account if any of the survivors fought back. It also shows that widespread panic spreads faster with larger populations, even if the source of the panic is nowhere close to the people. And from observations it shows that larger populations and cramped spaces its even harder to stay alive.
heh, this is interesting. I've found that with the way the zombies are programed, if two zombies are made and as long as no survivors go near them, they'll just hang together closely and barely go anywhere, cus they're programed to just walk towards whatever is moving in front of them, and if its just them two, they'll just keep walking into each other, and the survivors can easily get away from them since they run faster.

There are links near the bottom of different versions people made of the same simulation. One of them includes people fighting back, and another even includes the military taking action. Then there's one that's just a game where you have to more or less nuke all the zombies before they spread to the whole city. It's fun.

In the one with the military, I found myself rooting for the zombies, mostly because it seemed like half the time they died without getting anyone. It seemed unbalanced to me. And now, I introduce you to The Eye of Argon, the worst piece of fantasy fiction ever written: www.dcs.gla.ac.uk/SF-Archives/Misc/eyeargon.html

When I tried the military one, the soldiers were getting slaughtered like no ones business.

man, this zombie simulator is harkening me back to the golden age of classic video games. What i mean is that, it makes you imagine all these things that are going on and yet in the end, u're just looking at tiny little dots roaming around.
wow, the one with the military is my favorite. I can't believe its getting me to stare at it for how long. But wut are these really bright blue dots that move really fast?

Panicked military? You would think military would keep their cool, but who knows.
My roommate and I were discussing the whole zombie invasion thing. We both pretty much decided that the military could handle the situation. Instead of spread out across the city, we figured they would first quarantine as well as they could, then just roll in with tanks in an organized sweep and take out the zombies. Probably with multiple civilian casualties as well. That and I have no doubt the government wouldn't hesitate to drop a good sized nuke just about anywhere.

I figure they've no reason to be too cautious on how many civilians survive. I mean, you have to figure that the more living civilians there are, the more fuel there is for the fire, ya know?

Exactly. On the grand scheme of things, whats the population of a city (or state) compared to the rest of the world?

On one hand, I completely agree, when it comes to the subject of a fictional zombie invasion. But on the other hand, I'm glad you guys aren't in positions of influence in the government. Although that's exactly how Bush thinks in the real world.

Yeah, my priority would be evacuation, not cleansing, honestly.
I mean I understand the POV... You could risk contamination... but whats the point of even stopping the zombie infestation if not to save lives?

On one hand, I completely agree, when it comes to the subject of a fictional zombie invasion. You realize this statement is pointless, right? What's the point of taking a stand on one side in a fictional situation, but taking the other if actually faced with the decision? On another note, I don't mean the government should start off by cleansing an entire city or state. . . but I also think if the conditions necessitated it, it should be done.
