There was just something about Dune that didn't grasp me. And I plan on going back to read the LotR books, so hold your tongue!

I didn't like LotR, but I did like Dune, even though many parts of it were not very suiting to my tastes.

Everyone should read Dune. Period. ----> . <----
Its just awesome. I like all the philosophy in them. And the "wheels within wheels within wheels" storyline. Its gooooood stuff.

yeah, that's what atracted me to it. I didn't like the Sci-fi universe very much, with the style of governments, technology, and whatnot, however, the storyline is just awesome.

I thought the technology was alright. Its a cool idea, how anything close to a 'thinking machine' is destroyed. I like the mentat idea the best tho, cause i think humans really could train themselves to be 'human computers.'

Uh huh... It was, at least, within the original thread topic this time. Although...ya think she's trying to suck up for something? In any case, I don't remember too much about the book except for the feelings I got for the first couple of chapters. It just turned me off. I mihgt give it a second chance, if I can find my copy.

Um... right.... well just someone kindly lent the first Dune book to me, (Thanks Al ;D) so i guess i will be able to fill in my view of the book. (probably after this thread changes subjects, but the way the world works.)
