Quest for the Perfect Forum

Hey everyone.

Well, I have searched the internet long and hard for the perfect roleplaying forum - and while this isn't it, I think it's pretty funky anyway, so I decided to sign up

Finally - an active forum without ten thousand surperfluous boards for inactive games or settings, without a rabid obsession for anime, not focused on D&D, decent colour sceme that doesn't make me cringe, and the best slogan for a forum I've seen (even if I'm not really sure how to have a hexagonal day - that's beside the point).

So yeah - that's my obligatory 'Hello, I'm a n00b' post. Now, best to add this place to favourites before I forget about it and continue my quest (if you never hear from me again, I've succeeded )

Edit: I read somewhere (oldish post) that there's RP saturation going on - too many RPs for too few people. Is this still true?

What's true is, all the RPG's here are idle. Not too long ago there were maybe two or three active, but I haven't seen a new post for weeks. Still not an unpleasant board.

Well, its not necessarily that we have to many RPGs and too few people. Mostly, noone has any time. I'm always an avocate for reviving them, but you need others for it to work out.

I have a ton of time, but none of the roleplays here are really my style. I like RPs le grande--roleplaying on world scales with armies and politics and economics. World RPG fit that perfectly, but World RPG was abandoned and all my attempts to get people to revive it failed.

Also - is there any reason why this place is so small? It seems to have been going on for a long time to have only 18 members...

It had 54, or more, not too long ago. I suppose the bums who never dared to actually post anything (or who had so much trouble logging in that they gave up) got cleaned out recently.

Also - is the Role Playing Ideas forum just for suggesting new ideas for RPs for the Role Playing Board, or for RPG discussion in general?

Ideas for new ones, ideas for old ones, discussion... I guess if you have RPG ideas of any sort, that's the place to post them.

howdy, newcomer. welcome aboard. (theres my obligatory welcome to your obligatory im a n00b post ;D)

im Katt, second in command here. ill break a couple things down for you. short and sweet (im glad i got here before cobra, or else you'd be wading in a 3 foot long post, lol)

anyway, first things first, the RPGs. granted they are idle, as of late, but they've got potential. were all still intrested, but its just the fact that people are usually busy. we go thru phases where people post like mad, then nothing for a good month or so, then they pick back up again. we just need a swift kick in the rear to get things going again.. which i think ill do very shortly...

our boards are broken down quite simply. general is for talking (nonRPG), RPG ideas is for anything OOC, and and the role playing boardis for all actual playing and IC stuff. and of course, archives are archives.

and weve been around along time... a couple years actually. we started out (and i guess we still kinda are) a personal board. about 90% know eachother from highschool or from other boards and stuff. but thats not to say that were not welcoming stragglers from the internet. we have a couple members who stuck (fargo and coral for example). we're always welcoming newbies here, but i dont think people catch on to that. i think people get scared off because they think were an exclusive friends only dig. were not.

yeah, we used have around 54 members for a while. then we made Tass a mod... weve been at around 18 ever since.

lol, not really. hes just the one whose in charge of deleting inactive accounts here. people who sign up and dont post, or sign up and leave or whatever the case may be. we just like to say he eats n00bs for breakfast becuase its fun.

so thats why we only have about 18 poeple here ;D.

and im a shift-key abolitionist, by the way. i dislike keyboards as well. so dont mind my typos. i have regular wars with my hardware.

And uh - if a guy with a kilt comes in - that's my fault as well I was drumming up interest for Nomic from a few people I know to be good RPers...

And places that have forums dedicated to anime roleplay I can't take seriously. They also tend to be the ones with purple and pink backgrounds and big, bright coloured anime characters everywhere you look. It's all quite terrible...

Wow! I thought I was the only one who felt that way.

That's why I created this board. I loved to RP, but everything on the internet... well, sucked. For the reasons listed above.

But, to prevent myself from ranting, I will stop myself there (I write long posts... erm). I'm Cobra5, or just Cobra, or Cob I guess if you're weird, or Will. People haven't been posting much lately, but as Katt said, they probably just need a kick in the pants.

I havn't been posting much, either, and this is my site! I've been kinda busy, and also having login problems, which are unfortunatly common.

Feel free to post about the board, or whatever. People are generally friendly towards new people (Ignore anything about Rings of Fire)

And thank you very much for saying I have nice smilies. I can't say I worked very hard on them though If the blue-on-blue hurts your eyes there is another color scheme I'm working on, but its far from done. You can set it in your 'profile' screen.
