lol :] China has almost nil marching bands. We were invited over there to inspire/show off to get them more/better bands. China wants to do a marching band performance for their olympics because marching bands are so rare there. Here in the US a generic marching band is a dime a dozen. You can go down to California(well, you guys can't but I could  ) to a competition and expect to see at least 20 different bands. When we went there and performed with other bands, there were 3 others that marched(more like moved). And THAT was a big deal. You can imagine the difference between mustering up 3 bands in China for something important compared to expecting/guaranteeing 20 per competition in Cali. Oh and since I went over there, I'm invited to play in the olympic band in 2008 |
