Doc waited patiently by the door, he knew that they were keeping him waiting deliberately. He didn't have to use any special power to register that much. Using his power did allow him access to a few surface thoughts in the room though. . . .
He's not going to show up.
Doc's more trouble than he's worth
Bastard needs to get his hand off my thigh
Doc laughed inwardly, he wasn't going anywhere, yes, he was a handful. The bastard though, he wondered who that was? For that matter who was the one thinking about a bastard?
The door opened slowly before him and he was ushered inside. The room was set up as he thought it would be. A lone chair in the middle of the room faced a series of tables upon which were stacked a great many manilla envelopes. Behind the tables were seated six individuals, five men and one woman. The men eyeballed him as he entered and sat in the chair; their looks condescending. The woman on the other hand seemed to look him over with a bit of a twinkle in her eye. This was interesting, perhaps he had an ally in the room after all.
The man behind the center table stood and spoke, "Doc, you've been violating our code. You've been using your powers for personal gain, and for that you're going to be punished. Not only are you going to be punished, but we're assigning you to a special group. Not only will they take care of crime within the city, and beyond, but they will be your baby sitter's as well. If you violate the code in any way while under their care. . . the repercussions will be severe. Is that understood?"
"So, what you're saying is that I have baby sitters that are going to be watching my every move. Does that mean I can't paint on the walls anymore?"
"Get him out of here."
Hands reached out and lifted Doc from his chair and brought him out of the room. The journey was short, and one that he knew by heart. . . his cell was waiting for him.
Back inside the room, the individuals began talking once more.
"Have we chosen the team that he is to work with?"

((Yes I know that I'm double posting, deal with it.))
The whole scene played out in his mind, and only in his mind. Of course there wasn't a six person pannel out to set him up; there was only one man in charge of this operation. . . and he was setting him up!
True, he had used his powers for a little personal gain, after all, what use are they if you can't use them. A couple of hands of high stakes poker when you can change your cards at will, and see your opponents hands as well. . . that makes for easy money. Well, easy enough until somebody here found out about it.
In any case the babysitting thing was going to be true enough. The man in charge was setting him up with a team. "It will be to your, and their, benefit to work together as a team". Doc knew better, he was going to be watched.
He didn't even know the names of the members let alone their abilities, truthly he didn't care. The very fact that he was going to be teemed up with a bunch of beginers made his blood boil. Then again, perhaps they hadn't heard of his powers either. . . hmmm this could be interesting.

Witnesses say lone Kid attempts to stop bag robbery...
One man stands against robbers- 9 dead, 11 wounded...
...withouth a chance" said the battered manager. "There was blood everywhere"...
... Never, ever again...
Two years later...
"Ok. Its somebody in this school" she said. "Look out fo the runty ones."
"Why?"
"Because. They're always runty. Heh..." The two of them were agents for DSi. Everyone had heard the rumors of asingle young man trying to stand against 3 armed robbers. His interference caused the robbers to open fire on the crowd, hurting many. The robbers were stopped, though. A pecular thing was that one of the robbers weapons was sliced clean in half. That much is true.
Other then that, reports varied. They say the guy was untouchable. That no matter how hard they hit, he was never hurt. And he stayed close to his enemies- to close for them to use guns on him without threatening eachother. Others say that he held two glowing blades, like swords or knives. Some say he had super powers, some dais he was quick and brutal- like a ninja.
No-one took it seriously. No-one important, anyway. A number of internet junkies and conspiracy theory nerds are of course still arguing about it today, depeting wether it was a stranded alien, government supersoldiers, or some form of propaganda. But the people who mattered- the Resaerch facilities, the CIA, the NSA, DARPA... they ignored it, if they even heard about it at all.
Except for one group.
DSi. It was their job to investigate what nobody else would. After all, all stories have to be based on something.
Besides, one man did take down three armed robbers on his own. That alone warrants some interest, at least in their books.
The central DSi facility had dispatched two agents- codenamed Akimov and Pavlita-to investigate these particular rumors.
((Soo.... tired... I'll write more later.))

The image of the woman came back into Nathaniel's mind. Taller than the average woman she had to be just an inch or two shy of his 5' 11". Her long blond hair cascaded down her shoulders framing the delicate features of her face. As attractive as the rest of her was, her eyes seemed to sear into his mind. Somewhere he'd seen her before. He coudn't put his finger on it. . . he'd have to ask the professor. Before that, he needed to go have some fun, even if he was being watched. You can't keep a gambler away from the tables, it's not right.
The casino was fairly vacant as Doc began scanning the tables. There had to be some action going on, he needed the pocket money. Well, wanted rather. In any case a large stack of chips was usually a good way to attract the ladies.
A poker game caught his eye and he grinned, there was nothing like a good game of poker. He approached the table and asked to join in the next hand. The four men at the table grudgingly agreed, after all it was more money in the pot. . . .
Within an hour the men at the table had enough of the new comer, although a growing number of ladies seemed unable to get enough. He had trippled the number of chips that he started play with, and was eager to aquire more. As he started play a voice reached into his mind. . . Nathaniel, did you think that I wouldn't know you were gambling? I know that you've been cheating, you always do. I know it, and others may know it as well. Remember using your powers is how I found you.

The voice in his head distracted him, well that and the woman next to him running her hand up his thigh. As if that wasn't enough she uttered the magic words, "I'll bet $5,000 you can't keep me up all night". Sure he enjoyed the ladies, but it was the prospect of a bet that really set his nerves tingling.
"You're on, lead the way."
An incredibly pleasurable, and infinitaley unwritable, night folowed. Doc did keep the woman up all night. . . when he woke the hotel room was empty, dark, and empty. She was missing, his clothes were missing, all of his hard won chips were missing, and adding insult to injury when he walked to the bathroom to wash his face. . . not only were the toiletries missing as well, but there face down on the floor was a dead body.
Just great, how the bloody hell am I going to explain this?
As he debated what to do the sound of sirens could be heard in the background.

--The building was huge, though hidden from those unknowing. Filled with labs, training rooms.... basically everything, including a library. And in this most sacred of places, this quiet sanctuary of learning, sat Fargo Squire. Learning was one of the things he valued most in life, along with his powers, both of which he was able to exercise in this book-laden cavern.
--He read for hours at a time, and just as soon as he finished with a good book, he forgot it. That was his first ability. Ever since he was a child, Fargo had noticed the unique ability to put knowledge away for later use, and effectively forget it. And he'd always been good at lying because of this. Not realising the potential this presented him with, however, he used it mostly to get double the pleasure out of books, reading each twice.
--He had another special ability, an untamed and, or so he thought, secret one. He could manipulate fire, make it swirl, make it move. He had often used this late at night, when he couldn't afford to be seen and yet he wanted to read. He would make the flame lay flat just away from a page, effectively making a booklight that was difficult to spot and very easy to hide.
--But since his arrival here, he'd begun to develope other interests. Martial arts fascinated him, and he went regularly to practice with some of the other members. While doing this, he often took the opportunity to learn them, understand them, and own them. Once Fargo knew a person, they were his.
((That last part isn't a power, it's just that he knows how people's minds work and learns very quickly. He can figure out what to say to get a person to do what he wants once he knows them well enough.))

What I really need is a damn phone, but of course that's gone. I can't use the one in the room, the police will check the phone records to see who I called from here. What the hell do I do?
With his mind scrambing for answers Doc decided the first thing he needed was a set of clothes. . . .
When the police arrived they came in and handcuffed the man dressed in black. Black slacks, black dress shirt, and even a black tie, what was wrong with people these days. They took him down to the station and gave him his one call.
As he was lead down the hallway to the phone he could hear the cops conversing.
"Nathaniel Roark age 27, professional gambler. He hit it big about eight years ago, won a couple of million in an enormous poker tournament. I saw him on tv, he was pretty amazing. I'd like to know what the hell went on in that room, and why he was involved."
The number that he dialed was one that wouldn't be immedietly traceable. It would be routed, and rerouted, and linked though more encryption than any supercomputer in the world would be able to take. . . and then it would sift through it all again. The voice on the other end of the line spoke, "Yes?"
"I'm kinda in trouble, big trouble."

--As usual, Fargo sat reading. He was reading about the cyclops in The Odyssey for the second time when the small button-pin he kept in his pocket started making noise.
".....ight now. I repeat. Fargo, I need you in my lab right now," it babbled as he retrieved it.
Spectacular, I finally get to do something. I just wish I knew what happened in this book... Oh. *remembers* Man, Homer is awesome!
--He hurried to the professor's lab.
"Glad to see you here on time Fargo. We'll still have to wait for the others though. Take a seat," the short man at the back of the room said.
"What did you want me for Professor?" Fargo inquired as he sat in a chair near the professor.
"Seeing as you're the only one here, it would be pointless to tell you, eh? I'd just have to repeat myself. But I suppose I'll tell you anyway. It seems Doc has gotten himself into some trouble. From what I gathered, he went gambling and had a good night afterwards, if you know what I mean. When he got up, he found a body in the room's bathroom, and he was missing everything. I don't yet know what's going on, but I'm going to need you all to do anything about it," the professor explained patiently, while he waited not so patiently for the rest of the team.

Savant was in the training room at DSi, twirling a staff faster than the eye could follow, exercising his mind as much as his body. He focused entirely on the staff with every fiber of his being, spinning it faster, faster, faster! It spun so fast that it seemed invisible, and he knew it would cut through anything the ends touched. He was finally doing it, finally focusing his power in a way that allowed him to fight for himself, not hiding behind his constructs and teammates. Finally, he could fight with DSi's finest, he could- his com device beeped, destroying his concentration, and the staff distorted and vanished. Seething, he grabbed the device from his pocket and growled into it. "This had better be good." "You're being assigned to a team." "You interrupted my training for this?" "We need you to come by and meet them. You have five minutes." "*sigh* Fine, I'll be there." Savant shut off the com and walked out of the training room to his room. He showered and dressed in the hooded robes that he wore when he was fighting crime. He walked into the room exactly five minutes after the message. "Must you always be so literal, Nich?" "Wouldn't be any fun if I wasn't."

Put the phone down and think about what's happening. You must be in dire need of help if you used that number, and I'm sure there's a reason for it, but don't painic. We'll sort it all out in the end. This is getting somewhat tiresome though, it seems I'm always bailing you out of one mess or another.
Come on professor not now, this is really bad, the police think I murdered somebody. Somebody important from the sounds of things over here. The place is a madhouse, and anytime now I expect to be hassled by a never ending supply of fresh police just waiting to make a name for themselves by breaking the case and sending my ass to prison for the rest of my life. We both know that could be a long time.
Yes, of course you're right. Stay silent, and keep listening to everything around you. I'm going to put a team together and work on getting you out of there by finding the real killer. Be patient, it's going to take some time.
Yeah, patient. . . you're not the one in a cell. How do I get ahold of you if something comes up?
I'll check in with you at least once an hour. You should do well, just don't create any enemies.

"Damn"
The high tech moniters and dials flatlined. Adam frowned at the results. Maybe next time, he could modify the power inpu-
*Beep*
Adam reached down to his vibrating beeper, looked at it. Apparently he was needed. Something about a 'team,' which was odd enough. Adam had worked alone since his recruitment into DSi, alone in the science labs.
Oh well, I'll have to get back to this later. . .
He walked to the door of the lab, stood in the cleaning/shower room to be cleansed of any possible dangerous lingering chemicals. The air ducts never fully dried his fur, it was always a bit damp afterwards. Adam made his way into the meeting room, right after one of the younger recruits.
Wonderful. . . hope I don't have to lead a group of newbies, or anything like that. . .

"Well, it looks like one of your teammates is here." Nich looks over his shoulder, then spins around and shouts. "What the?!!?" "My name is Adam, or Heretic if you'd prefer. Please try not to gawk too much. It bothers me." "Sorry, I was just startled." "No harm done. Your reaction was still less... violent than other peoples'" "So, when are the others expected?"
((Sorry if this counts as character control. Abishai was pushing for a post.))

((Yeah, thats hardcore character control. But since im a nice guy, I'll let it go without destroying your soul. Much.))
Nich: "So, when are the others expected?"
Adam: "Couldn't tell you. As of right now, I know about as much as you do. So, who are you? And you?" He looks at the other person in the room, who seems to be sitting very impatiently. "Or should I wait untill everyone arrives for introductions?"
((so whats the deal? Cobra needs to be captured, i think BugHunter does too, im not sure about Katt, Abishai is Doc, Jalathas and Fargo are here with me and the prof? Is the three of us the extent of the team?))

--Still Fargo waited, now accompanied by Adam and Savant, to see what the professor would come up with.
"Well, I was hoping for at least two other memebers to make it, and they still may I suppose. But it's time I revealed the plan to you three. Savant, you'll need to create some distractions. Just conjure up something that the guards will see as threatening, to get them out of the way. Adam, you're going to figure out a way to get Doc out of the cell. From the inside of the building. And Fargo, you'll need to forget everything about this. We'll frame you for a crime, and you'll be locked in there with Doc. When Adam busts you out, you'll have three people on the escape job instead of two. And we'll also make sure you're proven innocent, don't worry." Professor Toms explained.
--All three of them sat, contemplating their part in the plan.
"And now, we wait. This can become simpler and simpler if we can incorporate just a few more people into it." Toms said, leading them into another impatient wait.
