Name: Taisho Volker Saiga
Alias: Sho, DragonChild
Race: human, Easterner
Birthplace: Land’s End monastery
Age: 20
Eyes: amber
Hair: jet black, loose & long (to mid back)
Height: tall (183cm, 6”)
Gender: male
Profession: currently; Vagrant Duelist / formerly; Warrior Monk and Lancer (in that respective order) / earned the title of Adalgar (combination of Germanic elements that translates into: adal-noble and gar-spear: noble spear) during his time in the Thuringein Royal Lancers
Specialty:
-Honoo-Ryu Yarido; “Way of the Flame Dragon Spear” Sho’s personal style of spear combat he derived from his teacher’s Shinsei-Tamashii Yarido (Way of the Divine Soul Spear), still being perfected- he modifies it with his experiences
-Heiondo: “Way of Tranquility” The Land’s End Monastery’s unarmed martial arts style, with a heavy basis on flowing movements and distractions
-Jumping: One of Sho’s two innate special abilities, he is able to jump INHUMANLY HIGH when he desires- the drawback being that depending on how high he jumps- stress will accumulate on his lower body
-Honoo Ki: “Flame Spirit” Sho’s second innate special ability, he is able to focus the energies around him and turn them into azure flames* and allows him to absorb any sort of fire based attack
*These flames can only damage organic objects (people, creatures, wood, plants, etc) and do NOTHING to metals. Also, due to the basis of its power, the flames are capable breaking through any kind of magic based shield- how large the penetration depends on the strength of the shield
Special Move(s):
Honoo-Ryu Kokyuu: “Flame Dragon Breath” Sho’s trademark and the move that earned him his nickname of DragonChild. He uses his Honoo Ki to concentrate the energies into a flame emitted from his mouth. This particular ability can be modified for whatever situation Sho needs, from flames that can incinerate giants to flames that can brown a loaf of bread…and even flames that do absolutely nothing but look big. It’s major drawback is that Sho cannot move while performing this maneuver.
Honoo Hasu: “Flame Lotus” Sho uses his Honoo Ki this time around to imbue his body with flames. With this, he light his own body on fire, cover select parts of his body like his fists and feet, or anything within direct vicinity of him (usually his naginata)
Limit:
Kagayaki Honoo Tamashii: “Shining Flame Spirit” When pushed to a breaking point, Sho will go into a trance-like state. His whole body will become surrounded in blue flames emanating from his heart, while his strength and speed increase ten to twenty times over. The trance lasts for only as long as his well of "chi" at the moment (and his power will increase over the period of which he's in the trance)...upon expending this energy he'll revert back...and a mere tap with a finger will render him unconscious.
*for all those who are apprehensive against Japanese names- Sho never actually speaks of the names of his maneuvers- this is simply for information’s sake
Weapon of Choice:
1- “Kirei,” his master Satios’s naginata; its shaft is of an unbreakable enchanted wood, while its blade can cut a hair's width and never dulls.
Armor and Equipment:
1- Ryu Kokoro – “Dragon Heart” Sho’s parents’ keepsake amulet containing a vial of ancient dragon blood. Wearing the amulet amplifies any fire based abilities its’ bearer may have by five fold. Of course, if the bearer has no such abilities then the amulet is useless.
Magic: Sho uses a ‘magic’ that he was trained to use in his earlier days at the monastery, a form that is considered more so a physical skill than magic- a specialty of most monks. There are only three, but the three are highly useful support skills nonetheless:
Purify- removes the following afflictions: poison, paralysis, petrification, and confusion
Chakra- recovers most wounds and revitalizes a small amount of magic energy, as well as relieves any feeling of pain
Awaken- revitalizes the unconscious (ko’d), NOT the dead
Biography:
Sho was the child of a Land’s End Monk and a mysterious woman from the Kingdom of Thuringein. His mother died giving birth to him, and his father raised him as a monk in the monastery where he was from. During his time at the Land’s End Monastery, Sho was something of an outcast. He was resented for his half-Thuringein blood, which gave him ridiculously pale skin for the area. The situation didn’t get any better when Sho’s father died of an illness that was sweeping the region at the time.
He did everything he could to make a name for himself despite a complete lack of any sort of friends. Not to mention, he garnered a rather reckless reputation for being a hardheaded and mischievous yet skilled fool. This lasted until he overheard the elder’s speaking of a keepsake his parents had entrusted to them. That following night; Sho went to investigate the whereabouts of his parents’ keepsake. He wound up at the Monastery’s Scroll Vault, where as the name implies- the Elders keep ancient relics and scrolls containing years of knowledge (the information of the Legendary Weapons for example). Within, Sho retrieved his keepsake- an amulet with a vial placed into its centre. He also stumbled upon an ornate gleaming black chest, it appeared like a lacquered coffin. The chest called out to him, pulsating in rhythmic beats; it had an aura that was inexplicable- one that Sho couldn’t resist.
He couldn’t deny it, this was the key to making a name for himself- a power that was beyond anything he’d ever felt. He then decided to see what could possibly give off such an air; but that was just before he blacked out. The contents of the chest had overpowered the training he had been given to prevent mental control. What was within was something far beyond what he could have ever expected to come across. The aura he had felt previously was the aura of the coffin- a sealing aura to prevent that of its contents from radiating out. This was the aura of the Legendary Chaos Butterfly; one of six mythical weapons that are known throughout the world over. Weapons that were forbidden, and carry power that is beyond imagine- he had no control, but he would recall this from his studies when he awoke.
The Chaos Butterfly had a soul in and of itself, a pair of short swords that much like their chaotic, jagged edges radiated an uncontrolled energy. They were also capable of forcing themselves on a bearer…which they did. Sho picked up the two blades, and everything went dead- as if all the energies in the vault were nonexistent. Mere seconds later- the whole vault was lit ablaze and the monastery was awoken from slumber. What came out of the vault wasn’t Sho; but something that looked like a Fire Elemental- carrying a fearsome dual-edge saber. The creature laid waste to the whole monastery, until the elders were able to muster enough energy to bind it and separate it from the Chaos Butterly’s second form.
When Sho recovered, he was no longer in the monastery; but he was now in a forest. When the dust had settled, Sho was placed in the care of a monk named Satios. Satios would raise the boy as his own, while continuing with his monk training; slightly modified due to Satios’ standing (he didn’t become a fallen monk out of nowhere- he openly spoke against the elders…but remains in contact to this day with them). A master of spear arts, he imparted this knowledge to Sho; along with his standoff, laid back, and part cocky attitude.
When time came, Satios challenged Sho a duel to the death to inherit the symbol of his mastery of the ways of Land’s End; his treasured naginata –Kirei- a well known spear that was nigh unbreakable and could never dull. Sho refused the rite and won Kirei by default- Satios told him that he would give such a gift to one who was willing to kill his teacher. With that, Sho left Satios and began traveling; his only clue from his master being to strive for whatever he so desires…which was simply to live and fight good battles. Sho took this note into account by heading to Thuringein, the birthplace of his mother and famed pike army, thinking that naginata skills should give him an upper hand. He soon managed to join their military, without aid of his mother’s name…whom he discovered to have been a Adalgar in her prime. And gained that same title in a few a short battles…along with additional techniques to meld into his combat style (Thuringein being more European in fashion, whereas Land’s End more Asian).
Upon achieving the highest rank he could in his mother’s country, he left it for greener pastures. Realizing that war battles weren’t really his forte, he became a vagrant duelist- simply drifting about, looking for skilled soldiers. He garnered an impressive 67 duel streak in less than a year. All the while, without knowing it, he wound up in Pyralis; where he came to hear the name of Lordsmith and more importantly…the name of his weapon…the Doomblade. A weapon of legend, he knew he could get a spectacular fight out of that…and began making his way for his stronghold.
Appearance/Persona: A tall young man with an unusually fair complexion for his kind (being half-Thurigein he's gotten his mother's skin tone); often seen wearing a red shirt which covers the lower neck and has rolled up sleeves, with matching red pants and black boots. He also wears his hair in a ponytail, under a long red head band (goes to mid-thigh). He is never seen without three particular accessories: his naginata, his amulet, and last but not least the aforementioned head band. Constantly cracking a smirk; he’s a very laid back fellow-he takes things as they come; prefers not to think. Although he’ll willingly play decoy if it means more fighting…And of course, regardless of what it may seem, his loyalty and care for his allies cannot be questioned…his lack of friends in his childhood binds him to any true ones that he makes.
Pros:
+ out of the box kinda guy
+ amazingly talented with his weapon and bare fists
+ lady luck seems to never leave his side...
+ honorable and loyal to his allies
Cons:
- can be calm to a fault
- doesn’t try to think much…
- has no resistance to any magic outside of fire
- doesn’t take anything all too seriously until he gets his head smashed in
other important notes-
much like Tanyu, Sho is an amazing melee fighter-the difference lies in the fact that Sho is a specialist-whereas Tanyu is a jack-of-all-trades, which leaves Sho with more exploitable vulnerabilities.
