Hey guys. Well, the board has been updated to v4 of Proboards. At the moment, not much has changed, except that A) You can't use the post buttons on a mac and B)Signatures can only be Jpgs and Gifs (although, Avatars can still be anything).
Oh yeah, and there's a spellchecker now, too (That'll help me, I know!)
But that's becuase I havn't had a chance to sit down and work with it yet.
What I've started doing is working on a second layout- Blue on white, is what I've been doing so far, and I like it, but I may do a different one first, and finish the blue-on-white one later. But the old layout will still be available (even when the new one is done) and probably will be forever. There'll be a little box where you can choose different skins.
Anyway, any ideas for any changes or layout ideas, any reports of things not working right, or whatever, you can post here.

Hey.
I've added the second skin- Or rather, what I have so far. Its far, far, far from done. But you can see what I have so far.
Under your profile, there'll be a slider now that says "Select Skin" or something similar. There will be two options: "Old School" and "Blue-on-white (Under Construction)"
Its far from done, as said. Its more so I can see what I'm doing as I work on it.

well, as i've stated on the Deschryver Inc thread- I think that whole Mac problem is up to circumstance, cuz' everything functions quite fluidly on meh' iBook...it's odd...
oh yeah, and I just thought i'd add that i'm tryin' on that new skin that's underconstruction- and it looks pretty cool so far...feels like the server on Front Mission III

I made a couple more changes to the white and blue scheme. I darkened it a bit, and switched some of the darks and lights around with eachother. So now its more, "Blue-on-grey" then blue on white... but still not quite what I had in mind, though.
I also updated most of the images on the OldSchool layout, too, so there's not many more stock images left. Except for "Search", next to the bookmark button... no matter what I do, they won't let me change it for some reason...

Well, I added some stuff to the white-and-blue color scheme (I'm not sure of anyone even cares, but whatever) and guess what? Error! So now it's been entirely reverted. Blah. I'm still gonna work on it though. Work's just been set back. For anyone using that colorscheme, whcih I don't think anyone is, the msilies don't work right. For example, this smilie:  shows up as a kissing smilie on the white and blue scheme. Don't trust the smilies. (That's what I was working on fixing when things went wrong, actually). I know what the problem is though, so its nothing I can't work around... just annoying  |

The thing that was wrong with the skin editing forms has been fixed. I've updated the White-on-blue a bit. I've fixed the smilies problem, sortof- Right now I'm using the regular blue smilies, which don't look good on the white. But at least the right smilies show up now. I've done some other minor changes, but still a lot of work to go (mostly making mini hexs).

I have a question for you, how does the PM backup system actually work? I've tried backing up my PM's so I can erase them on the site...but i've gotten anywhere with it, everytime its ready the provided link takes me to the Proboards main page...instead of the Backup Download page (or whichever page it is), so how exactly do I backup my PM's? am I doing something wrong?

I'm looking into it, but that's not something in control of, its my hosts (proboards). It may not work at all...  Ok- This fix didn't work for me but apparently its worked for members of other boards. When you get a PM saying your backup is ready, don't bother clicking the link. Instead, click the "Backup PMs" button again, as if your were starting the whole process over. Again, it didn't work for me, but others have said it worked. Other then that, my host knows the bug exists, and he's been fixing other bugs recently, so maybe it'll be fixed soon... |
