This is an RP set during war time. The party will be entirely composed of soldiers and captains and generals and the like. In short, no magic users and probably no priest(esse)s. Except for the first villain, as-of-yet entirely unexplained wizard warlord dude. What he is will depend on where the RP is set, which I'll leave partially up to you people (I'm so nice, aren't I?).
I'll not lie, the options are severely limited. It's set on the continent of Karatcho, which is a sure thing. Karatcho is basically a big island with little islands around it. Well, essentially, there's the deserts, the cold north places, and then that place I haven't RPed in in ages. Y'know, that place where... uhh... it's not scorching hot or ice cold?
In both the desert and the north, the enemy will be a massive army consisting of tribes. If it's the... other place, the enemy will be goblins, orcs, and trolls.
Of course, after we triumph over the big army and the magic warlord (or else turn tail and run), we'll move on to other enemies, and eventually end up facing off against one of the many forces of darkness and all that on the continent. Superepic, eh?

I like the idea. In fact, I really like the idea. Everyone's a soldier, essentially; no magic, no superhuman strength. Fights are fights.
I'd prefer the temperate setting, personally. I've just spent days ploughing through deserts and volcanoes and ice mountains in Zelda, and I'm sick of those.

I am in no position to make any real commitment just yet... but I do like the idea of it. I'll be thinking of what kind of character I'd like to play.
I was saying to myself (Before I read this) my next character would be a scythe wielding fighter-mage (Failing that, a scythe-wielding fighter, I usually don't play magic types, but I wanted to mix it up). I don't think either really fits in this context, as I'd doubt any army would arm their soldiers with what is usually considered an improvised weapon at best.
So, I'm thinking a two-handed sword. (Its very important, the main weapon, I think thats my favorite part of character creation... it really sets the image for the character in my mind). Hm... a long spear or pike would be cool, too, and I have done a lot of swordsmen...
Unless, of course, our weapons are given to us. At any rate, I'd like to be a simple grunt. A private or something- I'm not sure if, when you were describing that the characters would all be "soldiers and captains and generals and the like" that those posts would be available to us as players- either way I'd like to be a simple soldier following orders anyway.
I do like the millitary/soldier type RPGs... I was working on a D&D campaign like that for me, sarah and Zaku, but I dropped it in favor of the more traditional "Group of adventurers traveling the world" type deals.

Awesome, I already have three possible members.
Anyways, another option I didn't mention when I made this ('cause I hadn't slept last night) was that your character could be from a mercenary group.

Conveniant, because I was just telling myself I wanted to be a scimitar-wielding mercenary, a desert bandit. I can cook up a character sheet when I'm done editing a map I've been putting together pixel by pixel. Edit: Is gunpowder available at the time? I don't want a gun but I need to know.

Alright, after re-reading the first post, I think I need to ask permission to use my character. Basically, I want to run a religious warrior, like a paladin but without the magic powers. The reason I ask is because you said no priest/priestesses.

I like the deserts (obviously) but anything works, i know how to put my desert bandit in polar climates. If you use google earth (for some reason everyone does) I know the perfect coordinates. i use that to picture the area on all rpgs.

Funny, I had an idea about making an rpg where everyone was just simple soldiers. I'm actually into that sort of stuff, where u're not exactly the center of attention and u're not rediculously powerful. I would play a game like this. I'd settle with a private rank. Never did like giving orders.
