GM decision time(i.e., I should have said this earlier): You're heading off into a good-sized forest. About a day and a half's travel time, if nothing goes wrong.

Sarah told me today that everyone is waiting on me to drive the story forward.
I hope that isn't true... I know my character is the one driving in the literal sense, but I hadn't really planned on describing any of the coming areas or anything... and I never really got a feeling anyone expected me to...
I'm going to be leaving for Arizona Sunday, and though I'm sure I'll have internet connection to post, I'll be busy and I don't think I'll be able to steer the group or anything like that...

I didn't expect you to. I was just sort of giving ample discussion time. I'll post a new plot point sometime today.

I agree, I thought it was perfect time for our characters to "get to know eachother", our previous RPGs didn't really have time slots for stuff like that I think. Just free RPing you know? But then again, we had to keep going because if we stopped, everyone would stop RPing for like a week

"Getting to know each other" time can always be put in between adventures though, like in Baldur's Gate with the random discussion sessions. Having a set time to just sit and chat is the kind of thing that should be done in a tavern over drinks, not on a metal Kruzer on the way to find a "devil" in the west. Also, Tass, is Dune your favorite book series or something? Because your alchemic inner test thing really sounded like making the water of life non-toxic.

Meh. Dune, it seems to me, has a case of the dubs. Reading it, I was reminded of poorly translated anime as the chararcters made the same realizations many times over. For example, every time Jessica hears something about Bene Gesserit or the Kwisatz Haderach on Dune, she thinks something along the lines of, "Wow, the Missionaria Protectiva must have come here." I was fine with this the first time, and even the second time was okay, but when I was reading it for the fourth time in a row it just really bothered me. Also annoying was the way the author switched between viewpoints without meaningful transition. One minute, I'm reading Paul's thoughts in italics, and the next, the italics are Jessica's thoughts. It's confusing and unnecessary. Basically, it suffered from the same problem I find in the Lord of the Rings. It's a great story, but written in a manner that makes it unappealing to me.
Oh, and I guess I promised a plot post. I'll get on that.
