Hey, I'm just presenting the facts, buddy . And remember, these are tallied sales from all around the world, not just the US. If it were it probably be GTA:Vice City and Sports games that'd be up there. But hey, I'm impressed as well that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater sold that much

heh...I only have two games on that list -Myst (the Saturn version, when I used to have one) -Pokemon: Yellow-
interesting though...I thought there'd be more shooters up there...or fighters... hmm...three RPGs- yes!
this makes me want to see a 'best selling game' list from: Japan and America

I don't believe it. Tony Hawk wasn't... isn't... that popular...

You'd be surprised. In video games he was never THAT popular (at least, going against those stats, that's how it appeared), but among a certain group in real life he was very popular (being in movies, cameos in cartoons, etc.)

Duh, I know that. He's a skateboarder for crying out loud... you don't get much more mainstream then that. I'm talking about videogames.

...?
one?!
Tony Hawk has his name on 5 consecutive games the first four THPS- and then if you count THUG (Tony Hawk Pro Skater Underground) although not a sequel- you get five incredibly well selling games
...I'm not too great at it, my brother was though...I don't play his games much...but I won't deny that I had fun playing it- they're quite fun (alone...kinda, multiplayer is a blast)

I dont have to (but I did) read any more of this thread to know you have no clue what your talking about. Tony Hawk (although I personally dont like his genre of game) is extremely well known in the video game world. It was his game that inspired every other game of its type to become the "fad" not to long ago (when all of those cash-crop games came out with the exact same gameplay...I even saw an X-treme SCOOTER game cash-crop...I mean come on) As far as new games go... Doom cubed (3) is out for the pc (I want to see that). Halo 2 just came out for x-box. Resident evil: Outbreak is really good for the PS2. Resident Evil O just came out for gamecube. Harvest Moon: its a wonderful life just came out for gamecube :::shudder::: I cant believe it -- they finially surpassed the child - teen barrier on the ps2 -- transformers (yes transformers, the game) just came out for the ps2. I used to love that show when I was little....lol. As far as future games, I'm looking foward to HL2!!! (thats Half Life 2)

Man, you guys gotta get out more often. Tony Hawk is still popular, not was. He is the most recognizeable sports figure today, rivaling the likes of the Williams sisters, Tiger Woods, and even Michael Jordan. And forget about those crap fad games, we aint talkin about those. I dont even think those genres are "fads" anyway, xtreme sports are here to stay. But we're talkin about the real deal here. When they were making the original Tony Hawk, they absolutely did not think it was going to sell that much, but they knew it was a good cause - giving at least a little recognition to a sport that at the time was completely ignored or even looked down upon. And so what if its mainstream now, that doesn't mean its now crap. It just means it gets more attention nowadays. And these guys who do it are serious. They're not going to let it turn into a circus show. As for me, I think Tony Hawk kicks ass. I'm not good at playing it though. But come to think of it, i dont think i've seen a lot of homes without a copy of TH Pro Skater 2 lying somewhere around. Hell, the computers in Detrick's room all have Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 in them (but remember, the list i posted have tallied sales of only the individual game, not the series). And whatever can get people into gaming, more power to it! by the way, do you guys want to learn how video game and arcade light-guns work? I'm just dying to post this essay i wrote about it for Physics ;D

ebgames.com dosnt do a very good job at advertising which games are out and which arent. I see the name under the section, so wrote it, you acctually have to click on it to see the "pre-order" button. Screw them...
