even my computer dislikes japaneese -- when I was watching trigun on it (casue it has a dvd player) and forgot to switch japaneese to english when i first put it in, whevever somebody spoke my entire screen twitched and spazzed out like crazy -- turned all funny colors and whatnot. haha.

Now francis, THAT was uncalled for. He's allowed to his oppinion, and it isn't racially biased. He dosn't have to like the sound of a language. That isn't dissing your 'brothers' at all, or anyone for that matter. He;s also not being prejudiced. He just dosn't liek the way it sounds. Thats like me being prejudiced to heavy metal becuase it give me a headache. That's not prejudice, that's personal oppinion.

And, back on topic, I like the english voiceover in english better then japanese. ;D

NOT becuase of the emotion or the quality of acting or anything- I can't tell any of that when I listen to japanese... I don't know anything about it. BUt, the tone and pitch of the voices seem to fit their character much better. Hearing the japanese evrsion of nightmare just isn't as cool... he dosn't sound evil, and he dosn't even sound like a very big man...

Ivy sounds pretty cool in japanese, If I remember corectly. Cervantes was good, too, and some others, as well. But overally, I thought the english voices fit the characters' build and bodies better.

but i guess you do have a point, japanese voices dont always fit as well as the american ones. espically in shows like trugun and cowboy bebop. i really dont like the original voices for those... dubbed it way better. again, thats IMO

I've seen mroe anime then you think, and I can say that Cowboy BeBop and Trigun are the only ones that are better in English then japanese. Most SEEM to be better the other way around... although I can't be cirtain. I don't speak japanese

For the most part, the translation from Japanese to English is the same, but there are some word differences, such as "curse words" or some situational sentences. In any case, and I know you all know what I'm going to say, but the Japanese (in most cases) is better because it is the original. Now, Cowboy Bebop is very good in English and is one of the few exceptions to my personal "rule/opinion". What I don't like about English voice actors is that their voices don't really match with the original seiyuus, at least, not IMO. Like, Fushigi Yuugi, the voice actors were completely screwy and the guys sounded lke ever other American "hero", not the characters they were supposed to be. The seiyuus put a lot more emotion into their work than voice actors do (again, IMO).

why are we even talking about comparing japaneese and english? this is sickening!

English (the language) triumphs over japaneese (the language) anyday in everything so there.

There is a reason that english is the universal language.

and about the voice acting -- will, I highly doubt that you, who hates everything japaneese (highly dislikes) has ever sat down and acctually watched an entire anime in japaneese. ha.

as for voice overs -- the only arguement that I can see that is even remotely relevant is the one heather raised about the characters whos voices in the american version were more 'manly' than the voices in the jap version -- or any circumstance where they used a voice that wasnt similar to the originals in that respect.

When your talking about emotions -- I have an EXTREMELY hard time understanding how a japaneese characterer saying "HUH!?" can be more dramatic than an american character saying "HUH!?" when they are both saying "HUH!?" The japaneese are humans -- just like the americans -- and they have emotions -- just like we do -- so why would they have....better....emotions than we do in their language? Sounds like complete crap to me. The shows are dubbed to have the same emotions as the original.....ugh....

as one who's used to Japanese dialogue (i've got a whole load of subtitled movies at home) I can almost prefer subtitling to hear the original voices- the factor to my not preferring it ENTIRELY over dubbed voices is because- despite being able to easily follow subtitles (I know many who just can't) it's still somewhat taxing on the eyes. Now I honestly don't know if that even counts as being relevant but either way- 'nuff arguing

back to heroes:
As for Soul Calibur...i'm not too sure- I only them in their first incarnations as characters of Soul Blade on PS1

I think the characters sound better in Soul Calibur in English, but thats my only point of reference.

On a side note, eve wonder what english sounds like if you dont know it? Like, when you wanna pretend to speak japanese, most people just do the stereotypical "wacha oo ling pow kong!" stuff. Wonder how the japanese think we sound?

to Tass: well, when I was in Indonesia- the younger children mocked it some, snickering whenever there were tourists- especially at the language aspect. Yet when you go to the older kids to adults- there was a good amount of repect towards the language.

back to heroes-
I'd have to say my favorite character(s) in Soul Calibur would have to be the only character(s) I am somewhat familiar with considering their appearance in the first game:
Mitsurugi- i'm a samurai nut
Voldo- dunno...being out there was appealing to me

but my favorite game heroes that are human- AND in a fighting game (this does NOT count other game heroes, it's counting fighting game characters that I know of) are:

favorite female warrior hero:
Nakoruru- from SNK's Samurai Spirits/Showdown (one of the first fighting games to incorporate weapons, if not THE first), the character herself is a soon to be priestess- fighting evil to protect mother nature, her weapon is a small blade and eagle companion Mamahaha

favorite male warrior hero:
...actually...I don't really have a favorite male fighting game character...
but my top choices are-
Ryu- Street Fighter (Capcom), he's the original rogue warrior
Kyo Kusanagi- King of Fighters (SNK), flame throwin' hotshot
Haohmaru- Samurai Spirits (SNK), the original samurai warrior
Terry Bogard- Fatal Fury (SNK), in terms of fighting game rivalries- he was SNK's answer to Ryu...
