No, I didn't feel insulted. I just felt the need to point out she was passive. Besides, I don't know about her, But I don't really consider this an argument. There's no anger here at all

*Jalathas eyeballs the shiny "uber-mod" badge on Tassatul's chest* Tass: "are you okay?" Yup, an anger-free zone. So hey Will, just to make it interesting, care to share your reasons for dislikeing Shakespeare and co? Im curious

I don't believe you And what do you mean I lost the right to say things like that about you? I know you very well, and I also know you never change. Even now, you are saying the same things to me and bringing up the same points in the same arguments. Not to be insulting. And, feel free to mediate, Jalathas. But I'm not going to give up. And say what you will, but I don't believe I've actually insulted her yet. The insulting/angering part about what you said is, for the most part, that you think I'll never change, an untrue fact. I want to prove this to you (+ a few other narrow minded people), but something occurs to me at this point: it doesn't matter what you think. As long as I believe I've changed, that's who it matters to. Yes, Jalathas, continue if you please.

Really? You don't have to proove it to anyone? You can't even humor us?
Then you can't blame me for not bleieving you. I meet a lot of people, who say a lot of things, almost none of which are true.
As for shakespere, his works supposedly show "insight into human nature" and whatnot and so on. But his plays all just seem very... generic. Kind of like, the skeleton upon which a real story could be written. Just add a real plot.
Poe is like, the father of all the rediculous goth stories I am assaulted with daily. Or, used to be, rather, as I've entirely given up on trying to read stuff from people who aren't acomplished writers. If I was forced to compare his work to something, I'd say it would be the bastard child between an Emo kid and a Goth chick.
But I guess that's just me.

Perhaps there is something to his writing style then, as years after his death he is still influencing the people of today.

That is true. But I don't think that makes them good stories, though.

I think you should define what makes a good story. After all, the concept varies from person to person.

A good story, to me, is one I... like. I don't know. I just kinda... know which ones I like and which ones I don't. I like detail, and action, and narative. Shakespere didn't really have any of those, becuase they were plays I guess, and it was just supposed to be a script, not a fully fleshed story. I don't know. I just know what I like and what I don't, I guess

So, are you saying that you're fickle too? I know what I like changes over time. At some point in life books that I used to love, become extremely boring. At the same time books that used to bore me to tears become incredibly interesting. Case in point, The Gulag Archipelego. If anybody decides to take a look at it, you'd better have a strong stomache. Some of the atrocities commited are worse then those committed by the Nazis.

Nah, all unicorns are dead. According to Silverstein they were too stupid to get on Noah's ark.
