That someone is... ME!
Chrono trigger is ok. I liked FFVI Better though, personally. But Chronotrigger was a bit more... I don't really know the word... polished, I guess. Well made.

WHOAH! Jalthalas said "Light"! Wheel of Time fan? Is your SN from WoT and I just never read far enough to know about it? Sorry, that was entirely random. Cool, someone new! New people are teh rocks. ;D And, seriously, if you could help us get the different RPG stories up and running and staying alive, I would personally love you forever. ;D

The thing that probably made CT that little bit better than FF (at least IMO) is that it was made outside the context of a (ridiculously long) series. Also, the sprites were actually proportioned correctly >_>
Anyway, I may be able to do some stuff later on, I'll have to read through some of these RPs and try to get a feel for the kind of RPing you guys are into.
NoteWrote: And no, my sn isn't from WoT.

u'd have a lot of reading to do. But we'd be glad to fill u in on the basics (especially since i bet the rest of us have forgotten details).
as for the CT and FF thing, u have to consider that each and every FF game is suppost to be a different universe from each other.

And FF7 is supposed to be in the best universe of all. ;D Also, the WoT question was for Jathalas, just to clear things up a bit.

WHOAH! Jalthalas said "Light"! Wheel of Time fan? Is your SN from WoT and I just never read far enough to know about it? Yeah, I said Light. No, my screen name's an original character, not a WoT one. I love Wheel of Time, but I stopped my read-through in the middle of book 8, which was right in the middle of his dull phase, where he was basically writing a whole lot about nothing much. I'm re-reading from the beginning and just started book 5. How far did you get?

I finished the eighth book. Yeah, it did start to get dull. Everyone was running around and all over, but nothing was really getting done. I wanted to STRANGLE Rand everytime he even breathed, and all of the female characters became too similar. It was all "put her hands on her hips...pressed her lips...sniffed at him" and all that crap. Egwene got so damn boring after she became Amrylin, and she had that whole posse thing going on. The one thing I liked a lot though was how that balefire attack erases a small portion of time itself. Very cool. ;D Also, I love the Aiel in general, especially when they're in charge of the Aes Sedai prisoners of war. And I love Loial! He was so sweet and nice...

Wait... neither of you know about Chrono Trigger? I can understand Star Control, but CHRONO TRIGGER? Light, have you been living in boxes? You want to hear something really scary. . . I've never played a final fantasy. any of em. I did play the first RTS ever though. Dune II rocksed.

Final Fantasy Tactics. The rest are optional, and most of them are decent, but Tactics... It's like... the meat on the food pyramid of gaming or something. It's not always absolutely necessary, but it tastes so good.

but its like. . . turn based, isnt it? I never liked how Japanese (they are japanese right?) RPGs were set up.

Well, all the Final Fantasies are turn based. It's not real time combat. But Tactics is strategy. Tactics... It's not like any of the others. You've got units on a 3D battlefield, which is a grid of squares with different terrain and elevation etc. Each turn you can move each unit on your team and attack, or attack and move, and there are tons of different jobs and abilites.
It's a lot like Fire Emblem, or Front Mission, games like that. Only with more variety and, in my opinion, a smoother, super-sexy feel to it.

I guess I'm more of a one-person player. I dominate FPSs, and loved Morrowind and Oblivion. Even though I play World of Warcraft, much of the game can be spent grinding alone. Although, Starcraft will always hold a place in my heart. Right next the the one ventricle.
