Soul Saber: Act 3

[Cobra5]

((+1 cookie becuase you said, "Rolled a 20" Sorry for my absence, but I'm back. I'll spare you my excuses. This probably won't be a pattern.))

*Will looks up from his book after stumbling, becuase he's not paying atention to where he's walking.*

Will:"Hey, I'm sure your not interested, but I've... who's that?"

*After unnessicery explination obviously intended as comic relief...*

"I see. Well welcome aboard. So, Tass, Tengus, eh? Do they hold some significance to Kroy or the mages? Or is this simply an errand of sorts?"

[Tassatul]

Tass: "I've heard they attack regularly, but the do guards seem extra alert today, so perhaps its a really large group or something. Anyways, lets go!"

*They head to the southern edge of the city, where the tree-walls of Kroy blend into the forest behind it. Within the shadows of the forest, they can see shapes flitting back and forth, obviously skilled warriors of some sort*

Tass: "Uh. . . I'd rather not fight them in the forest. Seems like they got the advantage there. . ."

[Fargo Squire]

"So what then, we ask them to come out? Or bake some goodies to lure them into the open? C'mon, it could be fun." Despite the confidence in his voice, Fargo thought a tengu battle in woods did seem rather forbidding.

[Tassatul]

Tass: "Wait, I've got an idea. Tengu hate magi right?"

*As he said this, Tass's hands started to glow green, and he pressed them together, creating a small ball of energy between them. After a few seconds he spoke*

"That should be about enough"

*He quickley parted his hands, and the green ball shot into the sky, where is lingered for a moment, then exploded brilliantly*

Nearby patroling soldier, "Hey you missed!"

"Nah, that was just some fireworks. Take another look at the forest"

*As everyone looked, they noticed that it was slightly brighter under the trees, and a greenish hint*

Tass: "We'll, I suppose we ought to head in?"

"so tengus are mage haters? i should really open up that bestiary i took from that mage tower... the more i travel around here the more i realize the less i know about this strange continent."

*Not wanting to waste anymore bullets then she already had, Katt pulls out her bow and readies it for fire*

"so, any of you big strong men want to lead the way, or are we going to leave the leading to the only girl?"

[Deimos]

Sho: "...ha...well if it's a charge you're looking for...why didn't ya' say so"

*the excitement had finally gotten to him, he'd read up on Tengus in his past, and partially knows what he's dealing; but that fraction didn't prevent him from whirling his naginata as fast as he could and taking a running leap into the fray, screaming like a banshee out of hell and diving into the forest*

Sho: "BAAAANZAAAAAIIIIIII!!!!!"

[Tassatul]

*About fifteen tengu jump out of the trees and charge at Sho, the nearest enemy associated with the tall mage who casted that green ball of energy. The tengu feel they might as well wipe out this warrior before taking care of that filthy mage*

Tass: "Uh, go Sho! Kill something quick, I need a corpse!"

*Tass reflects on the oddness of that statement, the prepares his first spell for as soon as one of the tengu drop*

((see how you're posting about how that Tengu attacks Sho (its not Deimos) Tass? Thats what I want to see and thats what I meant in the Ideas thread!!!))

((Well, considering where Tanyu is, I guess he'll get a chance to explore the town a bit more. Dont worry, I'll include the fact that you guys are fighting somewhere else. By the way, was that Tengu attack expected by the people or not?))

*The soldiers bring the cart into a store house. For some strange reason, they didn't notice Tanyu on it the whole time and the fact that he was snoring like heck. They exit the store house and its giant doors shut with a loud "bang." This amazingly wakes up Tanyu. He slowly lifts his head up while rubbing it*

Tanyu: "...."

*looks around and notices that he's in an average sized warehouse, apparently. There are large stores of food and other miscellanous items all over the place. Therefore he makes the assumption that some time has elapsed since the last time he was awake on the road*

Tanyu: "Great... now where am I...?"

*Steps off the cart and tests the door. Its locked. Contemplates whether he should bust it down*

Tanyu: "Sigh... I haven't been awake long enough to start breaking things..."

*looks around again and finds a window.*

Tanyu: "Oh goody..."

*Climbs up a stack of crates to reach his exit.*

Tanyu: "erm... feeling dizzy. Guess I climbed too fast. Damnit... I need an egg."

*The store house's window was about two stories high, allowing some view of the town. Its facing the opposite direction from the Tengu battle so he doesn't see it. Not that he would notice if he did since once again his mind is dead set on curing his headache at the local tavern. He searches for anything that looks like a Tavern - good sized building, good number of people around it*

[Cobra5]

*Will draws the bastard sword from his back and, seeing Sho's excitment, jumps into the fray as well.*

Tengu hate magi? No wonder they're a nuisance to have around kroy

*Will is behind Sho and to his right as they charge- Which works out perfectly in Will's mind. Sho's weapon gives him longer reach, making him more suited for a first strike*

[Tassatul]

((Aha, I posted in the discussion thread, Francis, before I read here. I'm okay with what i just did, but I really didnt want to be in charge of NPC expressions and all that. I'm sure you can make up your own for little things like that ))

*Tass stands in the missile section of the battle next to Katt, who has her bow drawn. He suddenly gets an idea*

Tass: "Hey Katt, I wonder if I can. . ."

*He concentrates on the bow in her hands, then slides his index finger along the bow, leaving a slight green tinge on the wood for a moment, but which quickely fades. He looks at Katt and smiles brightly*

Tass: "Check it out, your bow should do a bit more damage now, I think Kaluth called it 'shadow dama-' "

*A pained gasp escaped him, and he dropped to one knee. It felt as if someone had just slashed his chest with a burning knife. He opened his armored chestpiece, and looked down to find an open wound down the left side of his body from chest to torso. It wasn't bleeding, as if it had been cauterized instantly*

By Shaitan! What happened?

[Deimos]

*In mid jump, Sho recognized that Will jumped in with him, the glee in Sho's face was unmistakable*

so...I finally get to see Will in action...hohoho, well, let me see if I can't make a good shield

*As Sho dove down on the first few tengu in his sights, he quickly shifted his weight to transition from a vertical strike to a horizontal one; hoping to throw the tengu off-guard. His attempt wasn't met with success however: the first tengu in line ducked out of the way, and the second cut his momentum entirely by drawing a rather well-made sword in the naginata's path. Once stopped, the third tengu quickly hopped onto the shaft of the naginata, ran up its length, and gave Sho a swift kick to the jaw. The blow sent him reeling a few feet and over Will, but he managed to catch himself with his arms and performed a capoiera* style recovery. Upon this, Sho realized that he was finally going to get the match he'd been itching for since Lordsmith...*

Sho: "oooookay then! c'mon, let's dance!"

*Sho, unwavering, cracks his knuckles and laughs; and charges back in to the fray aiming first and foremost, to retrieve his naginata*

((*- capoiera? is that even how you spell that? anyway, I couldn't figure how to describe his fall recovery other than that, seeing as I didn't want to have to put as a "breakdance style" recovery))

[Cobra5]

*Will goes into battle, bastard sword to his side in ofensive position, charging at full speed.*

*Three tengu take defensive position in front of him- as he charges forward, Sho is knocked back slightly (as above). Many were distracted by Sho's attack and only the three directly ahead are prepared for Will*

*The centermost- and frontmost- of the three assumes defensive postion, but Will hits him diagonally upwards with full force- it knocks the Tengu's weapon up and bares his midsection.*

*A quick recovery on Will's part puts his blade straight through the newly exposed weakpoint.*

One down... but I had the advantedge of the charge, and Sho's distraction. I won't have such an easy time with the rest...

[Deimos]

*As Will continues to fight, making full use of the opening created by Sho. Sho himself leaps over him and the tengu he battles with, straight into the three he ran into originally, who now holds his naginata. The three go into a line formation with the one holding Kirei at the end. Sho charges and slides around the first, jumping into the second, grabbing its head with his legs. Sho then swings around by shifting his weight and cracks the neck of the creature. As Sho comes to the back of the tengu, he is greeted by the last one about perform a downward swing into this head. Sho reaches for his naginata that it kept in its other arm, grasps it and lights it ablaze. The tengu releases his weapon, and backs off. Sho then backflips off the head of the second and does a blinding fast 360 degree spin that kills the third but kept it intact and simply cuts open the already dead second one...*

Sho: "all righty, time to make some breathin' room"

*Just as he recovers from the swing, the first tengu he jumped over came from nowhere and blindsided Sho in the face. After which, he leaps back for some room...only to be impaled by the same tengu who rushed him in mid-jump, into his abdomen. He lands with a thud, and the tengu again follows through by kicking him to the side where he meets a tree back first. He manages to sit up, bleeding somewhat profusely from where his stomach would be, and the left side of his face marked by a sword hilt. The Tengu who assaulted him at that point stops, and heads over to the other attacker in the field...*

Sho: "oof...dammit...that one really hurt, now I remember why dueling was my specialty...hah"

curses...no time to do chakra either...gonna have to do somethin' else...

((alfred, did you just get impaled through the stomach? isnt that usually fatal?))

*After Tass had somehow enchanted her weapon, she felt a tinge in her fingertips. Before Katt could say anything about the nifty new ability, Tass gasped in pain and fell to one knee, clutching his side*

"Ah! are you alright? what just happened?"

*as Tass investigated the sharp pain, Katt saw the huge gash down his midsection. The strangest thing was that it wasnt bleeding*

" ohmy- ... i might not know too much about magic, but theres no way thats normal..."

*Katt scans the battle feild for a second*

"and it looks like Sho is down as well, this really isnt good... how bad is it? do you think you can stick it throught he battle or what?"

[Tassatul]

*Tass looks at the strange wound, and then back to Katt*

"I think I'm gonna be alright. Its painful, but its not bleeding. Which could mean. . ."

*Tass's eyes glazed over a bit as he tried to remember some of his earliest training. Something about the power of blood, and how it was often used to strengthen spells. Usually it was part of a sacrifice, but sometimes the blood of the caster*

"Thats it! I just did a blood sacrifice spell! Cool! Ow!"

*His excited exclamation hurt his wound a bit, but Tass didnt't care. Blood sacrificing was tough stuff! And he did it by accident!*

*Tass was brought back to the present by the battle in front of him. The sight of Deimos' blood-covered body was nota pretty one, and Tass felt a slight stir in his own gut area*
