Demons and Angels

In the year 2012, angels descended from the heavens, bedecked in jeweled and golden armor and weilding great and mighty flaming swords, their wings like gleaming alabaster . From the flaming pits of Hell, the demons came to meet them, in their black, twisted armor and with dark blades of seething fury, and feathered onyx wings. Armageddon had come, and the mortals were cast into ruin. All semblance of order collapsed, with many countries falling into anarchy and tyranny. Soon, humans began growing wings themselves, and taking up with the corresponding faction. The year now is 2040, and the situation has stablized somewhat. Most of the world is in ruin from the constant war of the divine, but several areas have solidified their positions. The major countries are:
New China, a corrupt "democracy" which forces its people to vote for the incumbent, one Cho Zedong, descendant of Mao Zedong.
The European Union, led by Italy and the Pope, a strong supporter of the angels.
The Confederate States of America, consisting only of the Southwestern portion of the continent, the rest of which is a massive area ruled by the demons.
You are ordinary humans living in this Apocalyptic world. Slowly, your friends are becoming angels or demons, and the world is falling apart around you. Will you join a faction, or fight both for the well-being of all mankind? The choice is yours...

I'd probably be some guy, looking out for myself, sided with neither the Angels nor the Demons (Unwinged? if there is such a thing). You know, living day to day, looking out for myself, drifting from place to place, siding with who I have to, to stay alive.

That's how all of my characters are in Post-apocolypse worlds. A wanderer, a survivalist.

If it really came down to it I guess I'd side with angels. Though chaotic, I'd still be good.

I like the Diablo2 method of Heaven... they never speak of themselves or their motivations... that leaves it open to choose whatever religion there you want.

Thou personally, if I were to choose a religionin there, It'd be Norse. Becuase their version of apocolypse (Ragnorok, named after the wolf who will eat the moon) is the coolest, and the most action-packed I'd say. Plus Mortals actualy play a major role in the fight, as opposed to most other religions where the mortals are powerless and are either judged right there or simply killed in the billions.

I suppose I should explain this better. We are all humans, unwinged, and normal(to a point). We can be any age, and start out anywhere. Assuming we side with the angels, we are all in Rome, for unrelated reasons, during a demon attack. We end up fighting together for our lives, and probably join the Italian ranks to fight with the angels against the demons. I prefer this version, because it is the easiest to pull off. I mean, imagine if we were joining the demons. What country in its right mind would support the demons enough to be the target of an unprovoked angel attack? Anyways, your characters should probably have enough combat training to be useful in battle. Any other questions?

The title sure rings a bell. Sounds awesome, I'm all for it. You say there are three major countries, but since this is a chaotic and ravaged world, are there many cities? Or just a few? Wanderers and neutral humans wouldn't have much of a way to survive in a world completely controlled by two factions, so is there more to this? Maybe that's part of the story that'll unfold later on.

Guess I"m italian and follow the pope, then. But if I ever get a flaming angel sword, it will be a flaming angel sword of glass. But like, super glass. So it dosn't break.

Most of North America has been leveled by the demons, but the southwest region of the former US is still mostly intact. The residents have heen creating underground cities. The area is fairly safe for travelers, but there is the occasional demon wandering the area. Most of Europe is also fairly safe, but there are occasional battles. New China has constant skirmishes between the two factions in the less populous areas. Also, the humans could technically count as a third faction, and there is one more out there, but you'll learn about that later.

Edit: Cobra, you do not get a flaming angel sword.

Texas is occupied by demons. Vacation is impossible because the world is at war. How will you carry all your guns? How did you get a tank? Yes, I know you were kidding.

Awwww, no flaming Angel swords of glass +13?

The title of the RPG sounds familiar probably because of Dan Browns book Angels and Demons, a prequel to The Da Vinci Code. I havent read either, so nyah!

So we're going to be part of huge battles across the countryside? Sounds cool. Would we still use guns and stuff, or swords and sorcery type things, or both? And why wouldnt the Angels outfit us with some cool weapons or armor? I want a nice shiny plate of Heaven

The angels only equip those humans who are proven to be worhty of their gifts, namely, the ones who grow white wings. Black-wings are recruited by the demons. Anyways, you can use any type of weapon, but no magic. I think my character will use a katana in one hand and a pistol in the other.

What would you say to somebody playing a charecter who wants to be demonesque, but wants to attempt being good? Something akin to Spawn more or less.
