Well, just so you know, anyone can create their own RPs here. All the RPGs are user-created. What about shapeshifting as a school of magic? And instead of a naga that turns human, a human who turns naga? And PS, yes, I do love Naga from Warcraft Naga being a mostly western creature is cool too, the backstory you wrote fits well with some of the context I've been doing with the west recently (The Westerners encroching and oppressing natural creatures and races). The only thing I have against it is just that, originally, humans were the only intellegent race (Besides Demons, but they're not really a race) Well, for clarification of what we're up to (so you don't have to read 200pgs of backstory like Deimos did), Kaluth, a member of our party, has seemingly betrayed us. He's taken his student (Tassatul) and ran off somewhere, but not before summoning a massive, undead flesh monster. We are in the City of Kroy, the seat of power for the Mage Guild, and capital to the largest kingdom of the East. Most of the party is at the feet of the flesh monster, which is at a small outpost near the edge of the city.

I guess we'll just go with Nagas for now. Not like we're gonna' be seeing more than one at a time anyway d-:

Nagas is the officially correct plural form. But it is true that it won't be necessary to refer to them in the plural most likely.
If you're walking through the woods and hear a bush rustling, you don't go to it and say "Hey, is that nagas!?"

not digging the whole naga thing, btw. im just gonna be blunt. this is one of our longest running RPGs and we like to keep out the whole super uniqueness, which you mentioned earlier. the fact that we would be randomly banding with something/one who would obviously be considered a demon of the time doesnt make to much sence to me.
but, if you just cut out the half blood demon business, and say that shapeshifting is your magic specialty, making you a mage(human), i think that would be kind of interesting. we dont have a shapeshifter. that way, youd still be able to have your naga-ness, and not upset the apple cart, so to speak. this RPG in particular is way more about the characters and their personalities then the powers that they have. take cobra and i for example. weve been playing this game fromt he start, and our characters are basically average joes, or play then as such anyway, and its still interesting. a real good RPer doesnt need to be super unique to make their character interesting.
i like the idea of keeping humans as the only 'sentient' race
and disregard major typos... im trying to type with these fsking nails from prom @_X

Yeah. I mean, I had to whittle away at my original character idea because she was too much like a cowboy, and that's nothing like being half snake or something. A shapeshifting school of magic would be cool though. Would it be an actual change in shape though or more like an illusion?

I like his Naga thing, but I guess I'll second the idea that he should be a human that shapeshifts into a Naga to fight.

the only thing I can say, is that my character...despite being human is capable of a few strange feats (jumping ludicrously high and breathing fire)...although I altered the reasons to make it work (chi training in this case- whereas the original Sho I made for my own story, is a dragon that takes human form)...so I guess shapeshifting magic should work as a logic reason as well...

Well then, some slight alterations:
Nagas are legend in BOTH countries, but are only worshiped in the East. Notek trained his shapeshifting magicks in a swamp because he believes that the environment is conducive to shapeshifting (because Nagas had been rumored to favor swampy areas).
I can see both kinds of shapeshifting, illusory and real. Not sure when I'll bring in the illusory half though . . .

the fact that we would be randomly banding with something/one who would obviously be considered a demon of the time doesnt make to much sence to me. *Ponders* but anywho. I'd stick with actual, physical shapeshifting. You can be like the group's Swiss Army knife Damn, we need a tank: shift into a bear form. Ouch, we cant reach the high ledge: shift into a bird. Etc, etc. My other thought was, while being definitely human, your favorite form happens to be the Naga. Your character is very attached to that form and uses it often. But of course, completely up to you, just throwing out ideas

Hey now..Sho can jump really high...well...all right...he can jump about a max of 6-7 stories, think Advent Children, he can do what you see there...if he really strains his legs...of course...he'll wind up being unable to move for a while...but yeah
nevermind lol...that went straight into a dead end

Oh noes! More like a Mayan, really, but some people (weird people) consider Mayans to be aliens for some reason.
