Cobra, your character seems more futuristic than steampunk. That's fine, if everyone wants to go with that kind of setting, but you may have to tone the guns down a little if we stay with magic/steampunk. I don't even want to think about trying to figure out how a rocket would interact with magical defenses or anything like that.

Awesome mental image! Hundreds of mages using ice spells to freeze rockets.

Name: Adam Age: 22 Race: Human Class: Alchemist
Description: One of the first things people notice about Adam is that he is taller than average. Standing at 6'7, he cannot easily hide in a crowd. The second thing people notice is the runic tattoos completely covering his body. Symbols, circles, and designs all etched in red with a slight glow and shimmer to them are mostly hidden from view under Adam's long, deep maroon cloak. Underneath the hood of his cloak, Adam contains his medium length reddish-brown hair with a gray wool hat, allowing only about 2 inches to show from underneath it. Despite his wiry looking frame, Adam is actually quite strong and physically fit, although he rarely needs to make use of it due to his magical talents.
Equipment: Adam doesn't need to carry around excessive equipment due to his alchemical ability. His only real equipment is the tattoos on his body and a small satchel filled with rare reagents for his transmutations.
Bio: Despite his parent's deep-set suspicion of the supposed "devil's work" of alchemy, Adam held a fascination for it since he was old enough to understand the concept. Through his teenage years, he quietly studied the subject in addition to all of his regular schoolwork Finding that he held a knack for the practice, Adam decided to abandon further university study and become an apprentice to a practicing alchemist. When he broke the news to his parents, he was banished from their house, his father red-faced and yelling and his mother's eyes and cheeks wet with tears. Adam hasn't spoken to them since.
Adam then went off to study under the great masters, and, after learning all that he could, decided to continue evolving the profession on his own. At 20, he began to cover his body with the ritual tattoos to empower his skills, applying the ink himself with a combination of normal tattooing and alchemical enhancements. Although within the alchemist community Adam is known as both a master and slightly eccentric (tattoos had never been used before as a way to enhance power, and many felt Adam strove to become too powerful), much of the outside world is unfamiliar with his prowess.
Morality/philosophy: The Law Of Equivalent Exchange is the only morality which holds true sway of Adam's thoughts and decisions. The law states that nothing can be created without first destroying something in return. This obviously applies to alchemy, where no object can be created without having some sort of material to mold it from. It also applies to Adam's morality in that everything comes for a price, and everything has its consequences. His philosophy is roughly equivalent to karma.
Notable abilities/skills: Adam is a master alchemist. Needing only raw material and sometimes certain reagents, he can create nearly anything. The easiest are solid objects, like swinging weapons or walls. As the object he wants to create becomes more complex, so does the alchemy required to create it, and therefore the energy expended. In order to create something like a gun, Adam would have to know exactly how the gun worked and was constructed, not just the "idea" of a gun. ((This is where Will's character will come in handy : P))

The following is really a self-portrait, except using clothes I don't really own. I thought he ought to look like me. Name: Gustav Hindemith Age: 26 Race: Human Class: Dreamer Equipment: He has only his clothes, body, and mind. Bio: When Gustav was born, very unusual things happened very frequently in his presence. At about one month of age, his mother, who shortly before had been attempting to feed him, found herself drifting through the floor into the cellar. Another time, when he was seven years old, his teacher at the local school was very surprised when her wig lifted and vanished, exposing her bald head. Over the years, Gustav learned that these events were far from coincidental. He began to understand things about his reality that no one else seemed to. He knew that the right thought, or the right action at the right time, could do wondrous things. He knew just when to blink to make the day turn to night, and that if he imagined a fish swimming toward a tree during the afternoon, the weather would keep him warm that day. He decided at the age of 19 that it was a Hidden Language, and that most people just didn't know how to read it. Being a level-headed and logically minded person, he realised that this ability could be a serious problem if used the wrong way, or too obviously in front of the wrong people. Only two years ago, at 25, did he begin having the dreams. His dreams, usually tinted purple and accompanied by music that seems both structured and erratic, never seem to mean anything when he awakes. He has found, though, that they frequently give him clues to new uses of his Language and how his day will unfold. Now he travels where he guesses his dreams lead him, meeting various people and trying to stay out of trouble. He takes joy in new experiences, and thus tries everything at least once. Most people only know that Gustav seems to bring good fortune. Morality/philosophy: He never really thinks about it; he just does what feels right. At times, when he does consider his moral philosophy, he realises it is almost certainly affected and molded by the way he was raised and the experiences in his life. He'd like to think he just has a natural sense of right and wrong, but knows that in reality, it's 'monkey see, monkey do' in action. But really, he doesn't think about it much. Notable abilities/skills: - His understanding of the Hidden Language - His dreams - He is unusually aware of his physical self, and never falls or trips. He is also considerably stronger than he looks or than he understands, although certainly not so strong that a truly powerful man couldn't severely out-macho him. Edit - Oh man. Now you guys know my real name! Oh my goodness... What'll I do!?

I don't even want to think about trying to figure out how a rocket would interact with magical defenses or anything like that. Sure. What do you think would fit? Would rockets fist? I'm not thinking things that are modern-day technology. Other then the battle suit itself, I was picturing actually WWII technology (Hence a 90mm cannon, which were the heavy but mobile guns in that era). The americans also had a tank-mounted rocket system, though theirs had 60 tubes, but I thought 6 would be more appropriate. I figured WWII would be a good basis for steampunk-era equipment. I guess if I just remove the two optional shoulder mounted weapons, and also the handheld Gatling gun (which, I think gatling guns are the most steampunk weapon ever ) and the bazooka from the guy himself, I guess that should be good. I'll think of other stuff to fit in its place, but I'm not really sure what else there is besides cannons and rockets. Well, I was going to use the robot mostly as a melee fighter anyway, so maybe I'll just drop all of its weapons all together. To Fargo: Your name is Gustav? To Tass: I watched an episode of Full Metal Alchemist yesterday just to understand what kind of things I was supposed to have in mind

(Will remains mostly unchanged, no mention of Bazookas or Gatling Guns, maybe in the future after I get a feel for what kind of technology we'll be using. His rifle was changed to be bolt-action) Name: Will Age: 24 Race: Human Class: Engineer
Equipment: Wrench: Will's favorite wrench is large enough to be used as a melee weapon, although it is an ineffective weapon at best. Rifle: Will carries a bolt action rifle. Accurate at range, but slow rate of fire, and opponents with above-human agility can dodge it easily. Gadgets: Will is rarely seen fighting with the same weapons twice. He is always experimenting with a new device, and malfunctions are common.
Bio:Hailing from Mecharyne, a city of of technology, inventors, and engineers, Will has always shown that he's above the grade in his chosen profession. Though he is vulnerable in a world of powerful heroes and villains, he has always been able to out-smart, and out-build, every challenge that has come his way. The devices and machines he build are more advanced then most other contemporary technology, and he has been traveling to further his skills even more. He survives by selling his advanced technology, though he keeps it's inner workings secret. He travels the lands in his truck-like Land Carrier, which holds his workshop, inventions, and Battle Suit. Will himself is most commonly seen in a long brown coat, wearing goggles on his forehead and a toolbelt around his waist. Morality/philosophy: Will has always fallen in with the "Bad Crowd", and as such he has no long-standing relationships. In the past he has only had to look out for himself, although given the chance, he would be a loyal friend. He is energetic, but mature. Notable abilities/skills: Will is a prodigy of engineering, and his inventions are often far more advanced then contemporary technology. He can ascertain the inner workings of most machines at glance, with a good degree of accuracy. In his mind he is able to picture even complex mechanical designs. In battle, he prefers to fight from the cockpit of his Battle Suit.
(I changed the suits name- This character has a russian theme to him. Other then that, I removed all ranged weapons from it, and made it a little smaller as well) Name: Zmeya (Snake) Age: 3 years Race: Machine Class: Heavy Battle Armor
Equipment: Gadgets: Just as Will is always experimenting with new technology for himself, he often designs new weapons for his battle armor.
Bio:Three years ago Will completed his greatest project- scrapping his old battle armor, he finished work on a new, top-of-the-line custom Battle Armor, which has served him well since. It is a heavily armored, front-line close combat type, relying on its powerful limbs do inflict close-combat damage on his enemies. At top speed, it is about as fast as a normal human jogging- however, unlike a person, it never tires. It is not humanoid in shape. The pilot is protected from damage within the suit's cockpit, though his visibility is limited to the frontal arc. It is more bulky then a person and stands at approximately seven feet tall. Morality/philosophy: N/A Notable abilities/skills: Its heavy weight, thick armor, and robotic strength give it an edge in combat against smaller foes. However, it is not as mobile as a man on foot, and clever or quick opponents can stay to its sides and rear. Being made of metal, and keeping the pilot enclosed, it is protected well against most magical forms of attacks. Its metal armor is conductive however, providing little protection from lightning-based attacks.

Hey Fargo, are you German?
Wow, Will watched anime! That deserves a drink... of apple juice.
Hooray, my character is my first real magic type character. I feel that I've come full circle in converting away from basic warrior types.

Hm... I was actually talking about where I signed my drawing. Gustav would be kind a cool name to have though.

Cobra, the automatic weapons are ok. I was mostly just worried about the rocket launcher.
I realize that I haven't said much to the rest of you about your characters, but that's because I don't have any problem with them. I've got a basic story in mind now, so I'll probably start the thread today or tomorrow, depending on how much free thinking time I have.

hey, fireworks rockets have been around for quite some time. So a launcher type item wouldn't be that far fetched, even for the setting.
hey Fargo, you're name is Andrew? hey, me too.

TWO PEOPLE WITH THE SAME NAME!? WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO!? IT'S A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL! A BIRD IN THE HAND IS WORTH TWO IN THE BUSH! And other cliches and sayings.
I'm actually kind of confused about my character's abilities. I've always thought that just maybe, if you did or thought the right thing at the right time, you might be able to do just about anything, but that we simply don't know how. So I made it into Gustav. It will be interesting to me to see what I do.
Are you (Jalathas) going to post the ~plot here, or in the actual thread, or both?

I'm flying by the seat of my pants at the moment here Don't watch the show. The show is like this: 10% cliche badguys named after the 7 sins, 20% alchemy, 65% emo whiny anime bitch characters, 5% people going mad with alchemic power. And I almost had a heart attack with a little seizure on the side when I heard Will watched FMA.
