? Um... My post was a compliment. "grab opportunities by the horns" "You have such great starting points in your college careers" How is that being cynical or bitter?

I think it's probably better to not choose a major right away. Taking basic stuff is probably best. Maybe I wouldn't have gotten so overwhelmed and bored and given up if I hadn't tried to make myself take electives meant for majors. Who knows. But It's probably best to get the requirements done first since no matter what you choose, you'll need those anyway. Then maybe look for what you want to major in. I dunno. I guess I can't really give much advice since college didn't work out so hot for me, but whatever. I'm thinking about taking community college courses, but I dunno how much they are and I don't make much right now. Not to mention, I might be getting a job that will have me working monday through friday from 5am to about 4pm so...college classes would be hard to fit in.

If you're going to a 4 year college, bang out even more requirement courses through summer semesters. They're shorter, easier, and you can graduate faster. And later on u can reserve your senior years with just courses inside your major, which is wut i shoulda done. I hate having requirement classes bogging me down from my classes that are preparing me for my career.

My plan always was to get my requirements out of the way first- and really, I don't think I'll need a summer vacation unless I develop some crazy plan.

definitely. And with the extra time you have, instead of relaxing your senior year, you can be crazy like me and take graduate courses early, push off the last class that you need to graduate for an extra year and get your masters, BS and a minor all in 5 years, still while doing internships and trying to salvage time for a social life... just kidding about that last part . im not going to have time off until i graduate. Well, its a good thing i love college so much , i start my first day as an engineering intern on monday, wish me luck!

heh...I couldn't bring myself to take my required courses (Gen-Eds as we call them here...General Education Classes as opposed to Major Classes) in a string...I know people who do here, but I couldn't bring myself to do it....especially after taking three studio classes in one quarter simultaneously nearly provoking me and my good buddies to suicide (joking, but we really went off the deep end).
Either way, thanks to going full time in the summer, i'm done at the end of this year...however, If I didn't take last summer quarter off and take a few quarters (semesters for most colleges) at only four classes each to lessen the stress, i'd be done NOW...
Interning will happen at the last quarter, and my summer will be dedicated to the pre-production of my graduating portfolio, working portfolio, and demo reel (ie; a video portfolio containing my animation).
Well...hmm...I guess in the end it's a little different here...you can't really afford to come here not knowing what you want, since you can't come undeclared...and the expense isn't worth a switch; resulting in a lose-lose situation (animation is an exception, MANY leave animation after their first few quarters cuz' they can't hack it, the hardest major in this school). Of course this place is more trade school than it is college...so it works differently, which for me is fine, I knew I wanted to animate off the bat. Which also explains why many here are fairly along in age...this is something of a final stop for many here...who for a few years of college-hopping finally figure it out and come here to do what they really REALLY want (my roommate has been to 3 colleges before coming here for photography...just to cite an example).

Yeah, I have no idea what I want to do. I was considering a number of things. Computers, Game Design, honestly, even sculpting. I'm not as artistic as many others here perhaps, but I've always enjoyed that, and the design work people do on like movies, or say McFarlane figures and etc, it looks like something I'd enjoy.
I took my first driving test yesterday and failed, but it was easy and I'm sure I'll have it on the second try.

Stupid stuff. "Attention", but he didn't explain what that was. And he said I turned wrong.

So, I got my SAT scores today. 800 on Critical Reading, 710 on Math, 780 on Writing. That's a 2290 total. Yay me!

I'm going today. How exciting. I was curious and started weighing my boxes, and I have approximately 80 lbs books going with me. Just things I'd like to read and whatnot. This is kind of a weird day for me.
