Wahhhh...
I want to see it come back to life too.
Tell you what. If the players promise to post once a week, I'll promise to- at the very least- finish it.
But I want to hear everyone say they'll do it. One thing I'm really afraid of is doing so much work on, then people either not wanting to play it, not being able to post enough, or losing interest. Its a lot of work!
The people I'm mostly worried about are Deimos and Dan. If one person drops out, I'd take over for them, I already have my own country planned out (just for kicks).
What would help the most is if I could, somehow, get a backend. In other words, a program that would be able to keep track of the stuff for me. I'm trying to see if I could do it in microsoft excell. but I only have access to that in school.
And despite what you may think, this RPG HAS been on my mind, moreso then any other, in fact. I've come up with tons of high-tech technologies, and storylines as well. Accidents will happen. Things will go wrong. You will need to feed info to the public, you will need to see who's responsable, you will need to avoid all-out war.
I'm going to be trying to foster somewhat of a 'cold war' feeling in the RPG.
Its so much fun designing units for this game. I have so many pages devoted to it in my notebook that I actually need to get a new one now. Theres more WorldRPG in my Book +1 then everything else combined. Both modern and future stuff, from bolt action rifles and 80-year-old APCs to walking tanks and Power Armor.

Well, you two, I know. Its Dan and Deimos.
If either of them knew we were gonna start these, I'm sure they'd come back.

Oh fie.
Well, I don't really have much to do. The biggest thing is to write up everyones's posts. That'll take a long time. I begginging to wonder if I should RP them or not.
Oh well.
That and I need to find all the old posts, but that's why we have a search function. During my info proc class, I made an Excell spreadsheet with a bunch of information about the WorldRPG. It looked like it would be very useful. It can act as a calculator and it can keep track of everything. But I don't have excell at home, lol.
Well, whatever. I can force dan to post. Through violence, if I'm lucky. Deimos presents a problem, though, especially since his country was... important.
I'm sure his problems will work themselves out.

Cobra, I can get a program like excel, except better, for you! FOR FREE! Look for Open Office on Google. Its a third-party version of Microsoft office thats loads a bit slower and uses a different format, but is still good. (And dont worry, its not illegal).
Know that I am devoted to this RPG, and know that I haven't been posting lately because well, I have nothing to do here. No RPGs that will accept me or RPGs that I like. I play tick-based games instead, but this will be like, the ultimate tick-based strategy game. You can design you own friggin country! I mean, I've designed enough countries for the next 20 times we play this!

Heh. You'd like the game, "Rise of Nations", Coral. It served in part as the insparation for this RPG. Not quite the same thing, you play as real-life countries, but you start as spearman and rock slingers etc. and move up to stealth bombers and MBT's etc.
Its a good game.
And I'll look into it. I'll see what I can get going. Worried a bit about Deimos, though.
[edit:] PS, I guess this isn't really too important, but you gusy still gotta make flags. A descritpion is fine, I can make it myself. But that's not really important to the game.
Also, I don't have PSP at the moment, my friend has the disc. I should get it back on monday, or a few days later if not. No big delay, though, I already have all the images I need to start,
Also, Thanks for the Open Office tip. Its working great. I'm transfering the data right now from the school computer to mine at home. I'm setting up formulas inside the cells to do some of the calculations for me.

Ok... well, wow. I've got everything into excell now. Instead of each country's dollar value being based on total resources and income, your dollar income is based on how many resources you own and how much income you get. Similar idea, but make each dollar worth a different amount would be too much of a headache. The equations are long enough as it is. For example: (((Oil income*2)+Food Income+Timber income+(Ore income*2))*5)+(Oil owned*2)+food owned+timber owned+(ore owned*2)+(money owned/1000000) That's how I determine a country's world score. Ugh, but it dosn't stop there. Then, I add up all the world scores, to get the universal score, then I take each country's percantage of the Universal score, and that's your "%WS", which is your total income mulitplier. Your %WS is multiplied by your base money income. Starting incomes are about $60,000/turn. But one country has a very low income, and one other has a very high one. You don't need to know any of that. I just thought I'd share some of the stuff I'm doing with you guys If you actually take the time to look at that formula, you'll notice (this is important!) Oil and Ore scores are doubled when determaning your world score! So oil and ore effect your economy more then money, food, or timber. I've also figured out the starting armies. Each country will have a sizable army waiting and ready in their capital city. You can divide it into units however you want. All that's left to do is to write up all the PMs. I've already started, and trust me, this is the easy part. I'll be done before I go to bed tonight.

Whew. Ran into some roadbumps, but everything is fixed and I'm still on track.
These reports may turn out to be too big for PMs... Incase it comes to that, what's going to happen is, I'm going to send you the password for a hidden board. There will be one board for each country. Then, only the people who know the password can access that board.
Or...
I'm going to use an external web-page which will have a similar password-protection system.
Eitherway, just letting you know.
The spreadsheet is all worked out and set. The starting Tech Tree is set. Research will be slow, I'm warning you in advance, especially if we are going on a weekly bassis. This is a long-term game! So please be patient. Expect to be at or around the starting tech level for a while. Although, while it takes many turns (weeks) to develop new technology, it only takes one or two to develop new military units, so there will be development during wars as they happen, just like real life.
Also, any 'color' you want to add to your country, now's the time to do it. Terrain, style of alphabet and language and art and liturature etc, culture, style of living, etc. Anything. It may or may not actually have an effect on the game, but things about your culture WILL be represented in the 'news posts' and will be taken into consideration for world events and storylines.
Anything you don't choose will be chosen for you on what I think fits best in your country. anything you've already posted, of course, still applies, unless you want to change it.
If ANYONE talks to Deimos at all, please find out what's going on. Will he still be able to play? There's no deadline, or anything. How long will he be offline, though?
Otherwise, we're pretty much done. In the spare time, I'm redoing the starting armies, working on balence and whatnot, and coming with names for your advisors.

Any time/room for an additional player? If not, don't worry about it. There are many other things in this world to occupy my time and thoughts.
