I'm new here, so I'm not quite sure how things are run as of yet. However, I am a rather good rper and have been doing it for awhile on other sites. Well, whatever, but here is an RP that I tried to start on another site, but it didn't last.
Name: The Granstream Saga -------------------------------------------------- -------
Backstory: One hundred years ago, on the planet of Granstream, a terrible war took place. The battle raged between two opposing forces- the evil Imperial Wizardry and the noble Allied Spirit Army. Both sides were evenly matched and victory seemed out of reach for either army. Then in desperation, the Imperial Wizardry used a weapon that was banned long ago due to it's destructive power and unpredictability. The weapon was fired into the core of the planet, with the objective of annihilating a huge portion of the Allied Spirit Army's forces. But a miscalculation by the weapon's operators caused a catastrophic chain reaction. The damage was so great that the planet actually shifted on it's axis, causing the melting of the polar ice caps and threatening to entirely cover the planet's surface with water.
Far above the battles of the two forces, four Wise Men had been watching, waiting for the disaster they knew would come. Foreseeing the cataclysm through their magic, the Wise Men acted as the continents began to submerge. Using their mystical fortress, Airlim, powered by the four elemental orbs, the Wise Men were able to raise four of the continents into the air. These four continents were the only pieces of land that were not swallowed by the sea and the people on them were the only survivors.
The wise men knew that in order to keep the lands afloat, they would need to recharge Airlim periodically with the four orbs. each representing an element(Wind, Water, Earth and Fire). Each orb corresponded with a continent and each wise man controlled an orb. To prevent the orbs from falling into the wrong hands, each orb had to be activated by a special verse that only the wise men could recite.
As the Wise Men began to age and grow weaker, they each chose an apprentice to take over in their place. And so it was, for 100 years.
Plot: Over 100 years have passed since the horrible incident has occured and a horrible rumor has begun to spread across the land. The Wise Men have perished and their apprentices have disappeared. The evil Imperial Wizardry has risen again and reports of Wizardry airships have been reported in the sky. And with the wise men dead and apprentices missing, the four continents are slowly sinking toward the sea, ready to disappear for good.
Goal: To find the missing apprentices, defeat the evil Imperial Wizardy and save the world of Granstream from annihilation.
Setting: In the world of Granstream, where only four nations survive a horrific disaster that happened 100 years ago. The four nations are still struggling to start up their civilizations once again, but it has been very rough. Resources have become very limited and research has gone into finding suitable substitutes for when supples become depleted.
Rules: No God Modding
Try to post every 2-3 days, PM me if problem occurs
No killing of other players, period. Your all on the same side.
Cursing is allowed, but use to a minimum.
Try to use good grammar.
I'd perfer one character per player, but you may use two if you desire.
If this isn't the way you guys play the RP's warn me. This is what I'm used too. But if you guys are interested, I'll put up the character sign-up sheet later.

Either way. it sounds very cool. ERM! Sorry for that. I think the idea for the story is great. And there is no real way that we "RP here". Each person can dictate their own style, you know? Although, this does seem to be just how we do things. Anyhow. I'd join up. What type of characters would we be making? What kinds of technology is there? You mention airships, so I'm wondering what type of wepons we use. Swords and arrows? Makeshift rifles? You mention magic, but is it something only a limited number of people have the gift to use (like only the imperial Wizardry or the wise men or something?) Edit: Just looked it up online and found out it was a PS RPG. I thought it sounded familar Still sounds cool though.

your rules coincide with the ones we play with here. I think you wont have a problem rping with us, especially if you've played alot before. welcome aforum. and no, his idea arent violent enough to be corals. there no blood/gore/genocide/conspiracy/nukes. no i think we can wipe him of that charge. as for the idea though, it thinks its pretty cool, but the same questions pop up in my mind as my darling brother. is this in a medieval setting? is magic rare or is technology rare? or neither, i suppose that works too... and most of all is the use of capitol letters required for 'good grammar'?

very clever...adapting quite possibly the PS1's oldest RPG into...an RPG lol, it was one of my older favorites to top that off.
and I'm guessing in turns of setting, much like the game, it'll be a combo of both fantasy and heavy mechanical elements...but in the original game, only few had access to such technology- as it was lost. And you even maintained the floating continents too, sweet.
I'm thinking we all get the game's "magic amulet," for those who don't know the game- the main character was never technically seen in armor or weaponry- instead, he had a bracelet that duplicated any equipment it was exposed to, and even capable of re-creating broken weapons. The thing is, it keeps your weight light, by keeping the equipment within its own magical field- so only in battle, or whenever you desired, the amulet will arm you with the armor you see in you mind- as long as its duplicated a physical copy of it. I'd like one of those.

Whats up with everybody bashing Coral? I mean, we had problems, but I find it hard to hold a grudge. anywho.
This sounds very cool. I like the idea of the amulet, but I'm thinking we should modify it a bit. Perhaps, a limited form of the amulet, which can only generate one set of items per person? That way, everyone can still have a specific weapon set, which limits powerplaying as well. But anywho, keep feeding us information!

Who's bashing? I was just being suspicious, considering Coral popped up to post that thing in the news thread and then suddenly this guy popped up. It could have been related, could have not. But i like to shoot first and laugh later... or something about a question... oh well, i forget.
I didn't read the whole thread yet.

Wow...I'm quite impressed that somebody found out that it's based off the videogame. I often either use games itself, but mess with the story alittle or just relate it to the story itself, but I was bored one night and thought it'd make an interesting RP. As for the info, the characters can be whatever you want them to be...as long as it's not overdone. As I said, I will put up the character sheets in awhile....which asks for quite specific detail about the character. ;D Hope that doesn't bother all of you. I will try to fit the rest of the important info with the sign-up sheet. Continent names, technology, societies, etc. I have changed things around, like the continents.....different names and different types of people live in each. -------------------------------------------------------------------- The Four Continents Flamdera, the fire continent- It is the most populated of the four. Cities and towns can be found littered throughout and all of the factories that create most of the material goods are located there. Every populated area is connected by roads, but they have recently been overrun with bandits. Aquaria, the water continent- Aquaria is very scarcely populated, with only a couple of villages near the edge. The rest of the continent is covered with forests. The villagers were known as powerful warriors in the long forgotten war. Even today, the Aquarians are still known to be, for they had never thrown away their practices. Aeron, the wind continent- Aeron is consisted of one big city called Newford. The city is consisted mostly of scientists and students who attend the Academy. Many experiments are held to try and halt the descending lands. Gaiaral, the earth continent- Gaiaral consists of mainly farmers and flatland. The soil is extremely furtile, so, much of the food used in Granstream comes from here. The landscape also consists of many mineral deposits, which supplies most of Granstream with metal. This isn't the way the continents are set up in the original game and the names aren't either, but what can I say? -------------------------------------------------- -------------- Weaponry wise, I'd perfer it to be more fantasyish....if that makes any sense. Swords, axes, hammers, maces, arrows....that kind of thing. Machinery is present however, but are mostly used to power the cities and towns within the continent, as well as help with making goods. Magic isn't very commonplace, but a majority of the Aeron inhabitants know at least alittle. The four continents are suspended in air, so their are only two options to traverse between them. An airship, but they aren't commonplace, most belong to the Imperial Wizardry or the air-pirates. Or using a Teleportation Station, one located usually within the capitals. As for the Septor....which isn't spelled right....I suppose everyone will have one. It can basically duplicate and/or repair items, so I'll make them a commonplace item. Also...when you make your character, keep in mind that each continent hosts different types of people. Fire and Earth are for any of the odd job type classes. Water contains most of the warrior types and Airconsists of magical types. The Sign-up sheet Name: Age: Sex: Appearance: Clothing: Personality History: Home Continent: Class:(No real limitations here: Alchemist, blacksmith, Mage, etc.) Weapon: Okay....there ya go. Just make a character and I'll decide if it's good enough. See think it through!

Here's my characters, so you guys get an idea of what I'm looking for.
Name: Valo Corona
Age: 19
Sex: Male
Appearance: Tall around 6'5" and of slender, yet muscular build. Has a small scar that reaches across his right cheek.
Clothing: Wears a simple red tunic with a triangle design near the top and bottom. Wears white baggy pants held up by a leather belt with a silver buckle. Simple brown boots and a bracelet with a large gem on top.
Personality: Valo is a very hard-working and trustworthy young man. He finds joy in helping out in any way possible, whether it be for man or animal. He is not much of a fighter and was never able to use magic, but he has a fighter's heart and refuses to give up.
History: Not much is known about Valo's younger years. He was found lying in a field by a small town in Gaiaral at the age of 9. When questioned by the local farmers, it was found that the boy was suffering from amnesia. The only thing Valo had from his memories was a bracelet with the words, "Think of me" printed on the jewel. An older farmer, Freci, felt sorry for the young man and adopted him as his own son. Valo grew up learning the hard ways of the farmer, helping with the field and caring for the animals. Although it was a difficult career, Valo enjoyed it. He found the work to be satisfying and always thought that it brought good health. Like everyone else, Valo was worried about the sinking of the continents, but he was determined to help slow or even stop this disaster.
Home Continent: Gaiaral
Class: A simple farmer.
Weapon: Currently none
----------------------------------------------------------
Here is my second character.
Name: Morth Narack
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Appearance: 5'11 and of a smaller frame. Has midnight black hair that reaches his midback and is tied into a ponytail near the top. Has a tattoo of a skull and crossbones printed on his chest.
Clothing: Wears a black vest that is covered with various metalic trinkets. A set of pants made of a leathery material that is held up by a silver belt buckle. Wears mocossains made from wolf pelts and a reddish bandana with his name printed on the front.
Personality: Morth is a very complicated person to describe. He cares for his crew, but he refuses to show it for fear of becoming "weak". He acts tough and ruthless on the outside, but he is exactly the opposite on the inside. He may act rough and rude at times, but he never truly means it. It's all an act for him, but he is truly kindhearted and dedicated to others.
History: Morth was just a boy when he became a pirate. He had been an ordinary boy who lived just like the others of Granstream, trapped upon one of the continents. He had been playing near the edge and tripped, cracking his head upon a rock, then falling over the edge into the ocean below. Luckily for Morth, or unluckily in this case, he was rescued by a passing pirate airship, when a pirate saw something floating in the water. He was brought up onto the deck, then tied and tossed into the cargo hold. The captain of the ship, known as Skull, decided to make him into a cabin boy. Morth was only seven then and was constantly pushed around by the pirates, usually ending up being beaten and bruised. However, Morth was a headstrong young man and never backed down from the pirates. Even after being beaten, he would get back up and continue with his duties. Skull watched the boy with interest, he had never seen such a capable young man and eventually took him under his wing. Morth learned many things from the captain, how to fly the airship, how to handle a sword and about the trade of the pirate. Then one day, on a basic raid, Skull came back badly injured. They had tried to ransack a simple convoy filled with goods, but had misscalculated the guard's skill. They had made off with the loot, but Skull had been shot several times before they could retreat. As Skull, layed there, dying upon the deck, he passed on the leadership to Morth, much to the surprise of the pirates and himself. Morth wasn't sure if he could handle such a position, but soon found out that he was more then capable. Even though he was only 16, the pirates grew to respect him for his intellect and swordsmanship. Raids became simpler, the airship was more efficent and the crew moral was always high. His name soon spread out amongst the people of Granstream and he became considered the ultimate pirate.
Weapon: A scimitar called Head Slicer, that was previously owned by the late Skull.
Home: Unknown, he consideres his airship as his home.
Job: Pirate Captain

I have three different ideas for characters... I think I'm gonna go with a warrior-type dude. Two handed sword. I don't know what kind of amulet you guys are all talking about, making equipment and stuff... Um... I don't think I'll be needing one

Three ideas for characters, huh? You can use all three if you want too....if you think you can handle that many people that is. Using multple people in one RP can be quite confusing. But, if any of you would like to join, feel free to post your characters in this thread.
