oh... wel then i suggest you stick to a crossbow then.. i mean, even in reality. having the string mechanisms in a cross bow is alot more efficiant in out siuation then burning oil... if i understood that one correctly... you can use metal bolts i guess though. im sure a bit harder to come by, but that can be the difference between a eastern and a western crossbow. but i like the idea of the ranged only bit. adds a bit of character. plus, that would just about cover it for your con's catagory.

lol I sence another uniqe-craving person here....we are all the same way arent we.
Flintlock = no in my book. Too new.
Crossbows = definately
Flaming Crossbow of Scorching (+2 haha (omg just for clarification this was a joke I dont want to be bashed for using d&d notation, it was only a joke...)) = sure why not (magical, with a limited number of uses per day you can light a bolt on fire, say 5x or 10x a day, with only a spoken keyword)
Flaming Oil Crossbow (invention) = sure, you can be an inventor, you'd be great friends with will (also an inventor...I think). It would have a limited number of flaming bolts though, based on the amout of oil you have.
Just remember please, that this rpg is NOT a paper-penscil rpg. THE GAME IS IN THE ROLE PLAYING. If you role play well, you will have fun. We dont use numbers or anything like that. It is the way you say it is. JUST DONT POWERPLAY.....

yeah, dan covered the main point basically. we dont like powerplayers. thats the only thing were worried about. no one is invincible and we just try to keep things as 'realistic' as the universe allows. powerplayers= n00b = dorks = extra ring of fire we've just never seen you seriously role play yet so were just trying to take precautions. dont take it personally or anything

I think he's taken his Hostile Space saga rather seriously myself...
and as for powerplaying- Sho has the potential for that, but if you hadn't already read my latest post- he got knocked out for half the epic battle by being thrown into a wall headfirst by a golem...I have him being beaten up constantly

oh right! i forgot about that one... ehehe silly me (cept for the fact that he shot me and locked me in a locker the first three posts of the game...) but yeah, that counts i guess. i dunno. the whole main weapon being gun business is still a bit iffy to me. but then again its not entirely my decision either. i still like the crossbow better. even dans idea is pretty nifty too.

i'd go with Doc's first suggestion- sure we've got magicians and magic users but not too many magical weapons persay...and flaming arrows flying all over the place would be pretty interesting to see
heck...my spear is only enchanted from what it's made of...

Mmm. Hostile Space is dead, cause I started it up to fast and its now past its prime. No need to take it seriously anymore. And im probably going to go with perhaps the flamin' oil crossbow. And friends with will? Jeeze, you kiddin me? Im going to be shooting at him left n right, man!

uhh... so i take it that your not going to be traveling with the group then. if your going to be me and will's enemy, then i think your going to be the rest of the parties enemy too. so you can be a bad guy if you want i guess. other then that, i dont see how your character would be able to fit in...

now now gentlemen, don't make me turn the both of you into burnt toast via fire breath
j/k
but an enemy player would be interesting...hmm...I don't see why not honestly- but I thought you'd travel with us- the dynamics would alone have been worth watching

An enemy character would be dificult to put in, mostly becuase A) he'd never be allowed to win in the end, obviously B) It's be one against a whole party (sure there could be backup but 'generic' characters are not as strong) and most importantly, C) it would interefere with the storyline(s). We're going to be fighting other badguys, ones that difinatly wouldn't be allying with him.
If you really wanted to be a bad guy, you'd have to pop-in now and then, not be a regular character. Like, after an adventure, fighting you would have to be a side-quest of sorts...
