Ok, now there's a place where all Anime news and topics can be discussed. So instead of having it crammed somewhere in some other thread, it can all go here. Hurrah, hurrah...

Sailor moon sucks. Moving on, I'm very pickey about anime, but I do like some of it. Trigun, Cowboy BeBop, Kikaider (sorta... It's like, half crap, half cool), the original Gundam Sagas, Robotech. Those are the mains ones I like, but there are some more.

The thing about the style of the artist of Kikaider is that (if he isn't the guy) he follows the style of the original anime artist. You can tell, or at least i think, it is influenced by the style of the classic anime's of Astroboy and Gigantor. And another thing thats interesting about Anime is that its roots began at around the same time as Gaming. I like Cowboy Bebop, DBZ, Iria, Vampire Hunter D, Outlaw Star, that other one, the thinga magig, a few others, and most recently Trigun as well. Not only is anime a great art style, which i'd like to follow in a way, the stories are well created also.

I'm under the sincere impresion that Kikaider is animated by more then one person. The characters are so diferent looking... like that investigator guy, and the one girl who falls in love with kikaider... If I saw those pictures side by side and you told me they were from the same show, I wouldn't believe you.
Out of that list, I don't like DBZ, and I sort like Outlaw Star. It's kinda cool, but then it gets really weird, especially near the end. I also don't really like the idea of ships with arms.

What, the grappling arms? I thought you liked them. You added them to your concept art for your starships, which by the way i still have, *cough*. Sorry, i still haven't made revised versions of them...
Oh yea, I forgot to list Dot.Hack//sign and Galaxy Express 999(three nine). When i saw the mother of the girl in Kikaider, all i saw was the chick from Galaxy Express 999.
Oh, and you know the art style of Kikaider, which seems influenced by Astroboy. Well the creator of Astroboy, which Alfred says as the beginning of anime, his style was influenced by Disney.

Okay, here is my list of anime/manga: AnimeAh! Megami-sama (Oh My Goddess) His and Her Circumstances (Kare Kano) Love Hina Angelic Layer Chobits Sailor Moon Cowboy Bebop Fushigi Yuugi Ai Yori Aoishi MangaKare Kano Mars Paradise Kiss Love Hina Angelic Layer Chobits CLAMP School Detectives Ranma 1/2 Sailor Moon Confidential Confessions Cowboy Bebop My favorite anime is still up in the air, though I do like these very much. Confidential Confessions is, newly, my favorite manga. It deals with a bunch of societys issues, like rape, suicide, prostitution. I know this might sounds freaky, but the manga is very powerful, if any of you have read it. Which, no offense, I doubt.

Oh come on, lets not go into that argument, please. Who cares who does it better than the other. They both deal with the same issues and thats what matters. The only difference is that manga does it through visuals.

While Americans do have books upon books about these subjects, "Confidential Confessions" is a manga that I think you should read, Will. You might actually like it. I only have the first novel, but I'm going to get the second upon it's release. Would anyone care for a synopsis of the story?

You should do that more often: tell us short reviews of these anime stories. Its better than just saying their names and acting as if we know about them. Its what i do when i talk about games and stuff.

I don't like stories about rape, drugs, and other bad stuff like that. I don't mind if they are mentioned, or paly a part in the story, but if it is the main focus of a story then I don't really like it.

Here is the briefness for the stories in "Confidential Confessions": The first story is about a girl who's father left her and her mother a long time ago. Her mother is pretending that her husband is still at home, though that is never going to happen. The girl was always yelled at by her parents to do well in school, regardless of what she wanted. She has serious depression. One day, she meets a girl like herself who is worse off, actually. Together, they analyze life in their eyes and plot their joint suicide. They order cyanide pills, but do not use them. They are on a tall building and the first girl almost falls, but is saved by paramedics, I think it was. The first girl, at one point, after her mother badgers her about something, she gets a razor and slits her wrists in front of her mother. Once this happens, the mother quits pretending about her husband, now that people know about her daughter. The second girl, in the end, commits suicide successfully by cutting her wrists and staying in a bathtub (the water makes it so the wounds continue bleeding). The first girl sees how what they thought the world after suicide would be like is different than what really happens and how the people around the dead girl deny they had anything to do with her because their actions were the cause of what happened. In the end, the first girl begins to get better, but is still affected by her close friend's death. ((I'll post the other part after I have re-read the second story. I remember the first one more clearly for some odd reason. ))

When i said give us a brief review, i meant give us a brief review. You know, like what they put on the back covers. Something to get us interested in reading it. Not the whole story. If I want to find out what happens, I'll read it for myself if i ever come across it. But not a bad job anyway. Now is this "Confidential Confessions" a manga or an anime?
