I actually still read what goes on here. And as for what's happening: finals. Oh how I hate them.

I only have two finals. One of those two classes has a pre-final, though, and if I get a good enough score on the pre-final, I can choose not to take the final. Needless to say, I'm hoping for a good pre-final score.

I made the mistake of taking both US History classes simultaneously to get them out of the way. So I slept 0 hours on Sunday night, refreshing myself on everything that happened since the Civil War, and then spend 0 hours sleeping last night, instead writing a paper about everything that happened from 1607 up to the Civil War, and also learning all about terrorism, war, revolution, and international relations for a political science class. Also practiced for a piano final. But I'm finally done with it all, and I am going to sleep for the next month.

Ah school... I don't miss it Similar to that, though... where I work, it gets extremely busy for the holidays ("Party Season"). For example last week we had a corporate party of about 1500 people come in all at once, with all the games set on free play for just for them. Needless to say it was a nightmare... but they payed us $64,000 to do it, so our managers didn't care (Wish I could get a bit for my extra effort though, huh? ). On the topic of gaming, I can now recommend Warhammer Online to anyone interested in MMOs. I know MMOs aren't for everyone, and I used to think myself included, but this one is much more engaging the the others I've tried and played. If you totally hate the idea of current MMOs, this probably won't change your mind (It changed mine, but honestly I'm not sure it would have that effect on others). If you've been kinda interested but haven't jumped in yet, this is a good one to start on. PvP alone is amazing, they've done a lot to prevent greifing and to keep the battle balanced, and the sheer number and variety of classes is awesome. I WOULD say that a class or two is underpowered (out of 22 classes total), but thus far I haven't met any class that is overpowered or overplayed. The spread is fairly even besides the few mediocre classes. I could go a lot deeper into a review, but I'll spare you my paragraphs But the thing I like about it is I don't get bored playing it. WoW, and such, I've just gotten bored after a session or two, even if I do eventually keep playing. In WAR, I actually feel like I want to play, and have fun doing it. Then again I guess it helps that one of the classes was practically made for me.

I loved mass effect. The side quests sucked, because they were about as detailed as any normal RPG's sidequests. Compared to the rest of Mass Effect (The main storyline) that was not good enough. I also felt the level up system wasn't good enough, and an overall lack of variety- too few gun/armor models, the way every character used the same four weapons, and the way the same skills were repeated across so many characters.
Beyond those few things, the only thing I can say is, in the future I'll look back on that game the way I look back on XCom, Baldur's Gate II, C&C95. I feel that Mass Effect is the first true "next gen" RPG.
Its the cinematic quality, I think. The way I created a character and he wasn't a template. Or, even if he really was underneath, they did such a good job at making him feel real and mine that I was totally absorbed by it. The characters referenced the back story I chose, refered to my personality as a character, and the way my characer's face moved and voice changed... it really pulled me in.
It really has me pumped up for Dragon's Age. "We're going to recreate the Baldur's Gate series using what we've learned from Mass Effect". Yes please. Also, one of the romance options is a goth chick.

They better have more than one romance option for female characters, and I mean more than one guy and a bunch of lesbian picks by that.

Mmm, goth chicks...
Anyway, yeah, I'm totally blown away at how detailed the data encyclopedia inside the game is. Entry after entry and the main ones narrated by that dude who sounds like he's from National Geographic. I especially love the ones regarding physics and space travel. I can't imagine how much it took to prep all of that. I haven't gotten into any huge sidequests, I don't think, yet. I only just got my ship and finished the first mission inside that ice facility on Noveria. I clocked in a whole lot of hours inside that first space station, the Citadel with the Council and with the policing quests in there. That Noveria station was totally a reference to Aliens, although the Rachni look more like giant shrimp, but i still dig it. I love the stories of all the alien races' pasts and their cultures. The Quarians are like the gypsies of this world and their stories in creating the geth sounds like the matrix stories. And I can't help thinking that the Rachni sounded like the Zerg of this world. The Rachni wars sounded a lot like the Starcraft wars. I also like how the game feels like halo mixed with rpg elements. I'm also loving the graphics a lot too. The game looks really good and the atmosphere feels great. I already knew the game was big, but it wasn't until i got my ship and access to all the other planets on the star map that I had to stop and say, woa, this game is huge.
Hey was Knights of the Old Republic made by the same people? I was also thinking about checking out that series too.

If you want a real jaw-dropping moment in Mass Effect, equip Krogan Phoenix armor to Wrex. That'll make your eyes go wide in no time from the absurdity of it all. ;D

Hehe, I told my one friend to try it out too. One day out of the blue I get a message from him on Steam that says "O.O". I asked him "What?" and he said "Krogans in Phoenix armor". I couldn't stop laughing.

Knights of the Old Republic ("Kotor") is, in fact, by the same people by the way.
They've also made Baldur's Gate (The old school PC ones, not the console Hack n' Slash ones), Neverwinter Nights, and Jade Empire. Their current projects are Dragon Age: Origins and Knights of the Old Republic Online.
Kotor didn't catch me honestly. I dunno what it was about it... but I really didn't like it. I guess, perhaps, I felt dialouge was a little limited and stale: There were the same three options to everything "I'm a good guy we have to do what's right" "I'm neutral like a jedi should be so I don't really care" and "I'm mean so give me some money or I'll stab you with a laser." Lightsaber fighter were pretty cool, though.

Shit, that's right. I forgot Jedis were supposed to be neutral. I always picked the good option. Whoops.

i might check out Kotor after i beat mass effect, that or FFXII. But it looks like it might be awhile.
Currently doing some of the side missions, u were right, they are really less detailed. But I can't help but feel a sense of exploration as I traverse the open areas of a different planet, even if its so empty. Also, I really loved it when I could check out our own solar system. Sucks that we couldn't visit Earth and I was kinda hoping there'd be more easter eggs on the moon, like finding the Apollo lander and the American flag.
I'm pretty much making a paragon soldier at the moment. If i play it again, I wanna see what happens if I keep choosing renegade options. Sucker punching people in the face is pretty funny. If u already know what happens, don't tell me spoilers.

I went Paragon. My ending was epic and amazing.
Some of the side missions just scared the hell out of me! Or when you'd find some random floating ship and it's all "this ship is abandoned" and there's some dude in a coma or something in it, which is freaky, and then tons of sound bites left of the crew members saying "so-and-so is going a little crazy over the fact that coma guy can't be saved". Or the one that's FULL of husks in a maze of crates stacked really high. Holy crap, scared me so bad. I kept sending my teammates ahead of me to aggro them all so they couldn't jump out at me. They died a whole lot, but at least I didn't have to put up with it.
