I dunno. I'll just go with the flow. If you guys start playin it, I'll probably just observe first and see how you play and then probably join in.

I'm thinking that the locale can be variable depending of the mission. It will keep things interesting, and if we get bogged down we can just change the location.

Awesome. What kind of character should we be creating?
I'd enjoy being anything- The lowly infantry grunt out of boot camp, the wimpy techie who can disarm bombs and reapair vehicles but can barely aim a gun and runs away from combat... the elite sniper who can remain on his single task for days and never misses a shot... fighter pilot, tank crew.... you know. What kind of people should we be focusing towards?

I'm thinking about going along with your idea of a special forces unit. So, we should focus on a few key areas as far as skills go. Firearms is something that everyone should know. Specialties though include, heavy weapons, demolitions, communications, sniping, and combat medic. In the real spec-ops community everybody is cross-trained for at least one other job besides their own. . . .
I'm also thinking as far as rank structure goes:
One Captain in charge of the unit. One Seargant First Class Two Seargents The rest are grunts

I'm comfortable with whatever rank. I'll take whatever's left. As for skills, I think I'd like to be specialized in stuff like Combat medic and communications. Or demolitions and combat medic. You know, incase I blow an arm off

Oh, or stealth. I want that if its available. I don't know how realistic it is, but something like my Bugshunting character (the old one, before he was infected). He was the stealthy one- the others would fight, but he would sneak inside the enemy's ships and sabotage it. That's how we brought down the Lagger, remember...a nuke to damage it, and my sabotage finished the rest.

Abishai, you messed up the rank system. It would go:
Battalion Captain (CO of Battalion Captain (CO of Company) 1st Lieutenant (CO of Platoon) 2nd Lieutenant (XO of Platoon) Master Sergeant Staff Sergeant Sergeant First Class Sergeant Corporal Lance-Corporal Private 1st Class
Anyways, I'd be happy to be the intelligence officer. He gathers information, uses it, analyzes it, and then briefs you with it. Private

Messed up the ranks? No, he's right on... a captain leads the group, with sergeants under him, then the grunts...
no, that sounds pretty right...

I know the rank structure, you're looking at battalion level. I'm looking at a very small special forces unit. Come on Coral, I did my time in the service.
So as far as time frame goes back in the aftermath of WWII when the US is gung ho anti-communist. So, mid 50s. If anybody wants to go ahead and claim rank feel free. I however have dibbs on Sniping (Cobra that also includes stealth) and communications.
