Soul Saber: Act II

[Tassatul]

*Keeping his distance from the dragon, Tass consideres his next move*

I wonder if weakening spells stack? Worth a shot. . .

*Tass starts to gather energy, his stamina quickley exhausting from all the spell work. Soon, he would need to rest*

Tass: "Hey Tanyu! Get ready, I'm gonna blast it again!"

[BugHunter]

Tanyu: "oh surrrre...." (--_--) at least both of his arms are working...

*Although a bit peeved, Tanyu knew his duty. He reached into his cloak and pulled out a couple of small bombs*

Tanyu: "I wonder if Mr. Dragon enjoys spicy food"

[Abishai]

((Dire means bigger, yes. It does not mean incredibly large. In this case about double the size of the average wolf.))

As the dragon came more and more visible, Dirk was able to make out a small figure actually riding on the dragon. The faint sound of voices also became clear.

"I wonder if Mr. Dragon enjoys spicy food"

Obviously there were others intent on slaying the oversized lizard. Still, they couldn't have all of the fun. Dirk willed the glowing green arrow to return and aimed it at the belly of the dragon, he released the arrow and watched it sail through the air trailing a green cloud behind it. The arrow struck the dragon in the belly and moments later an incredibly loud hissing sound could be heard coming from the area, an enornous gasseous cloud also began to form.

*Katt pressed her ear to the door to see if she could hear anything of what lay beyond. even with her tuned hearing, she could hear very little but clanks and whirrs on the inside. strangely, no mosters...*

"if theres anything dangerous in htere, it hasnt noticed us yet, or so it seems. i cant imagine some wizards life working standing ungaurded though... Draw your weapons and be wary, people, just in case."

*Katt eased the huge mahongany doors open without a squeek and quickly sidestepped inside with wrist blades at the ready. The whole group was expecting some big final battle but there didnt seem to be one at this point. what did lie beyond though, was quite astounding.*

*The whole room was a dome, it seemed to be the very top room of the tower. a large telescope emerged from one slat in the great arched ceiling. the whole roof was painted as the night sky would look, with stars and constellations carefully put into place. along the walls were various clutter of desks and alchemy labs and caged animals. Great bookshelves were packed full of tomes and scrolls with enough access to litter the floors as well. even aside form all this hocus pocus wonder was the real spectacle of the room, the giant contraption in the middle. The think looked like a giant metal mobile, with different arms awith baubles and gears which were all im perfect balence. the whole contraption spun and orbited in perfect synchroniztion with all of its other moving parts, and was quite a sight to see. the stone floor around it was covered in aceint runes that looked to be written in blood, and every now and then, one would glow a bit and a slight humming could be heard. Katt could only guess that this meant yet another demon was being summoned to this plane somewhere int he surrounding region.*

"whoa... this must be the device thats opening the gateway between planes... what a devoted wizard this was... Will would find this excruciatingly intresting im sure"

*Katt first made her way over to one of the clutered drawers of a large desk. She offhandedly opened it and immediatly regretted it. A fireball came whizzing out of it and three mephits were summoned from some plane of the damned. Katt doged the firsball easily enough, but the mephits came directing for her face*

"ack! whatch it guys, this place is crawling with traps! watch where you step!"

*Katt began swinging at the mephits with her blades, but cunning little cratures they were. she was actully haveing a bit of trouble with them between trying to watch herstep and having to deal with them being more offensive then Mephits usually are...*

*Tanyu felt an arrow trailing green clouds wiz past him and hit the dragon*

Tanyu: "What was that?!" *turns around and sees a new stranger* "Whoever this guy is, at least he's helping"

[Abishai]

"What was that?!"

The stranger's voice came loud and clear even above the sound of the dragon's cries of pain. Dirk fired another green arrow at the dragon's belly before making his way towards the voice.

"An enemy of my enemy is my friend stranger. I am called Dirk. Who are you?"

[BugHunter]

*As the Dragon was distracted from being injured by the green arrows, Tanyu takes the second to respond to this new ally*

Tanyu: "Thanks for your aid, Dirk. My name is Tanyu, this necromancer over here is called Tass."

((ooc: Yo Tass, when were you plannin on hitting the dragon with another weakening spell? I'm just gonna go ahead and say you did it))

*Tass hits the dragon with the weaking spell. With an enraged reaction to this, the dragon opens it's mouth with a roar*

Tanyu: thats it!

*Tosses three small bombs into the dragon's mouth, which by mistake swallows it*

*muffled boom*

*The dragon begins nursing its belly in pain, but obviously this chain of gettin its butt whooped is starting to piss it off. It kinda looks like its getting ready for a retaliation attack*

[Deimos]

*Sho groaned at the thought of having to bypass traps...but nevertheless, what had to be done just had to be done. He took quick notice of the mephits that leaped at Katt; but remembering that flames could do nothing to them, he lunged forward and tossed his naginata into the fray. He managed to spear one square between the eyes, and sent the creature reeling backwards; the other two got distracted by the fall in mid-strike and narrowly missed their target. Sho then leaped over to the speared mephit and retrieved his naginata*

Sho: "Thanks for the tip Katt, you all right?"

*Just as he went to help her take out the other two; he failed to notice the runes that he had landed on...which began to glow. Then without any warning, numerous vines erupted from the ground he was on and chained themselves around his whole lower body...while more from behind him began constricting his arms*

Sho: "Oh...this can't be good"

traps...why'd it have to be traps?!...why couldn't be some huge guardian...ugh, I DESPISE traps

[Abishai]

The dragon turned it's head to the party, yet instead of releasing a breath weapon, it flew at the three with massive claws poised to strike. It flew fast, incredibly fast, faster than one would have thought possible for a creature its size.

Dirk urged Blaze to the side and willed another arrow to appear, this time a red arrow. As the dragon circled for another pass, he let loose the arrow and watched as it hit the dragon's belly.

Where the arrow hit was instantly illuminated by an extremely bright white / blue light. (fire guys, very hot fire)

*The dragon recieves terrible pain from the arrow and roars loudly into the air. Even the guys inside the tower can hear it. It recovers and swipes the arrow out of its belly. It gets its stance ready again and begins swooping towards our heroes. Tanyu jumps out of the way, the dragon missing its strike by a few inches. Now the dragon is between our heroes and the tower.*

*It drops down to the ground. Now thoroughly pist, it begins to use its ultimate powers. It begins to charge up its energies and the dragon itself begins to glow. The sky begins to turn dark with clouds. And considering its a Thunder Dragon, it might be easy to tell what its about to attack with.*

*Lightning starts to build up in the sky*

Tanyu: *getting up off the ground* "Crap, I dont like the looks of this"

*A bolt of lightning crashes down. Another. Then another. They're so close, the crashes of thunder are extremely loud. An unfortunate nearby tree gets blown to splinters from another bolt. Even the tower is getting hit*

*The dragon seems to just be standing there, putting all of its focus on controlling this lightning storm*

Tanyu: If the dragon is distracted from controlling lightning, then that must mean its vulnerable

*Tanyu pulls out a throwing knife and throws it at the dragon. But the knife gets stopped by what looks like an electricity field, which is being emitted by the dragon as its controlling the weather. It just looks like more magic to those without knowledge of static electricity and whatnot*

Tanyu: "Crap! It's got a shield around itself. My weapons will have no effect. Maybe your magics will fair better against---"

*Just then, a bolt comes down, this time almost making direct contact with Tanyu, but instead causes a big explosion next to him, causing him to fly into the air a bit*

Tanyu: *flying in the air* "CRRRRAAAAAPPPP!!!" () *crash lands back onto the ground* "ooofffph" (@_X)

[Tassatul]

*After hitting the dragon with the weakinging spell, Tass kneels on the ground, breathing heavily. The quick spellwork very nearly drained him, he was feeling a bit dizzy*

*A few moments later, the sky grows dark, and the dragon starts to use magic of its own. Tanyu spoke up*

Tanyu: "Crap! It's got a shield around itself. My weapons will have no effect. Maybe your magics will fair better against---"

*The explosion throws Tanyu, and Tass watches in horror*

Theres nothing i can do for him right yet. . .we need to finish this dragon

*Tass looks the the newcomer, then calls out to him*

"Tanyu was right, we'll need to use magic to break that shield. I suspect its lightning based, and it looks very unstable. If you could hit it with a equalizing spell of some sort, it might shock that dragon bad"

((Basically, I'm building off of the static electricity thing Francis mentioned. Equalize the static between the shield and the dragon, and zap him good))

[Abishai]

Dirk stared at the two figures his mind racing trying to figure out what they were telling him to do. In his limited experience he had never before slain a dragon. He willed another arrow to notch into his bow, one that he had never created before. An arrow that he hoped would work, if it didn't, well he didn't want to think about that. The arrow glowed a vibrant yellow as he aimed at the center of the dragon's chest. As he fired it he began chanting softly, hoping to add to the arrow's effect when it hit.

When the arrow hit the shield of static electricity an incredible amount of energy was released backwards along the arrows path. Dirk was picked up off of Blaze and thrown back fifty feet. The dragon suffered a worse fate.

When the arrow hit the electric shield, it absorbed the energy from the shield and stored it until it passed through and hit the dragon. The enourmous amount of stored energy was then released at it's point of impact, right on the Dragon's chest. The massive amount of electrical discharge was more than enough to light up the entire night sky for miles as the dragon was roasted alive.

((Sounds alright to me ))

*The force of the explosion threw Tass back a few yards, but he was already far anough away that it caused no lasting damage*

*Meanwhile, a great scream of pain came from the dragon, piercing the night, and then it fell, its weight shaking the ground*

Finally, its dead. .

*Tass crawled to his feet, the hobbled with his remaining energy over to where Tanyu lay. He had taken quite a hit, but Tass was certain he still lived*

Tanyu: *dizzy* (@_@) "gwwaaaahhhh..... Someone... get me... a pint..."

[Deimos]

*Sho struggled against his captors for a good while, unfortunately; with each movement the vines only tightened their vice-like grip. Luckily, they weren't more than vines...they just happened to be magically embued with a spirit of their own. That being the case, Sho gave up struggling momentarily and focused the chi around his body. In an instant, his body began to glow the azure of his flame breath; with a short sigh, the direct space around Sho was lit ablaze as if he was internally combusting...The vines lasted a few minutes before they were no more than smoldering cinders scattered amongst the runic symbols...From this, Sho brushed off the dust and stretched about a bit*

Sho: "hot damn...traps indeed...I'll REALLY have to be more careful..."
